You know how Scratchers are always creating shops in the Requests forum? For Scratch 2.0, I think instead of creating shops on the forums, there can be this page on the Scratch website where users can offer their sprites for free or for a price (10-love its, 1 tag, etc.). On the site, you can see featured shops, top viewed shops, and newest shops. When you click your username, you can also create a shop for free. On your shop page, you can view who used your sprite, who is asking to "buy" a sprite, and requests for a sprite.
Questions:
Q: Isn't this like Scratch Resources?
A: Not exactly. Scratchers offer sprites for others to use at their store. These sprites are either free or they have to be paid for. Also when you request a sprite, and the shop owner finds it, the sprite will be added to the store page. The more requests, the more sprites offered!
Q: Should Scratch 2.0 have Scratch Shops implemented in it?
A. Yes, I think so. This way it would be a lot easier to get a sprite, sort of like Stencyl.
Q: Can I suggest this on Scratch Suggestions?
A: Sure!
Q: Will we be able to access Scratch Shops outside Scratch 2.0?
A: Maybe we could make a URL for it, like shops.scratch.mit.edu
What do you think? Comment with tips and suggestions!

Just make all shops free, like they are in the requests forum

You're right. But that should be an option to the owner of a shop. However we can make it so you cannot pay in love-its or any way that may not be acceptable.

I'm not really one with this idea. However, shops should really just be free.

Alright, they can be free. But this way the shops are a lot more organized and easier to create and find.

The shops should definitely be free. I don't like the idea of adding any type of currency to Scratch (whether in the form of undeserved love-its, tags, etc).
However, I love the shops idea. I can already imagine it:

Thanks! Yeah, that looks like an excellent mockup. Care to add it to Scratch Suggestions (as long as you give credit)

Giving credit isn't the problem, it's getting enough votes to post it

I like LS97's mockup.
I support if it's like Ls97's

I don't like the idea of any sort of currency (love-it's should be given because you like the project!) but I do like the idea of shops and increased organization. But how would this be different than the requests forum?

I am working on a new part of Scratch Resources, called 'requests' that does something very similar
You basically ask everyone for something you are looking for (a background, a sound) and someone who's good at doing your request in particular can fulfill it. You might not be the best drawer, but you could request sprites on SR Requests and then your game has your code with specifically drawn sprites.
submitted resources will be available for everyone to use through SR just like it works now.
I know this is the other way around from what you're suggesting, you don't offer you services but you request others to do something for you.
However, if you're doing a lot of requests for people, you build up some reputation and people will know you're the one with the awesome sprites

Perhaps they could be kinda like galleries, except they can hold any format supported by Scratch Resources currently (sounds, sprites, costumes, backgrounds and other stuff I can't remember).

I second this.

This is different because this would be neater (as in less messy) than the requests forum (since that is filled with people needing sprites and people giving sprites). Check out LS97's mockup for an idea!
Also, you could request a sprite from a shop owner.
