We actually had a 60 page topic basically titled 'God doesn't exist' that didn't have any flame wars until the very end and it wasn't that big either. And this was a little over a year and a half ago
As someone who personally edited that topic numerous times weeding out flame posts, I beg to differ. However, we are getting seriously off topic again.
I believe this topic was supposed to be a petition - which is simply a list of people that agree with a statement. It seems to have turned into a rather lengthy debate. Which is fine, if that was the intent of the original poster. I will wait to hear from the original poster whether we should consider the debate posts "spam" or not. In the meantime, please keep your posts brief and focused on Political threads.

Fine then. You guys want politics? Here's a whole forum dedicated to it: [link removed by moderator - please don't link to external forums]

Just have some new rules about the presence of flame wars on political discussion.
In fact, we should create a Serious Discussion forum designed to accommodate those users. Only people who can handle it n survive in there. It will be a place of hot debate. I need that. It was part of the reason i migrated from Scratch.
@brettman-I believe it makes no difference at what age you show something to a child. They're going to learn it sooner or later, with or without your consent, with facts or with biased, half truths included inside.

Because this is a kid's site is exactly the reason why the fighting won't escalate. We've never had problems with political topics here. The userbase has also matured greatly since the days of Inspiration and More where political topics were allowed. We could handle it then and we can definitely handle it now.No.... I know a 6 year old Scratcher in real life. I don't think HE can handle it....
BTW, why do you always post things in red, Ace-of-Hearts?We're not forcing the 6 year olds into the political topics you know. The most common age of user on this site is 13-14, and the forums might be even higher. This would be for the older, responsible people who know what they're doing. You never have to participate in a topic you don't want to. Also don't turn the topic towards me, I don't know what red you're talking about anyways
You know.... like this. Anyway, I didn't turn it towards you, it's a FACT, it's the TRUTH that you are the main person here on this thread protesting and giving your opinions and reasons and ranting about why we should have the right to post political threads and stuff like that.

Anyone who thinks 6 years old can't handle politics is scorning the intellectual ability of young kids, and is discriminating against them.
You ageists.

No no no! I didn't mean that. I'm saying, THAT SPECIFIC six year old Scratcher I know in real life can't. Probably others can. No offense was intended towards younger people. I'm just saying, since we have mixed age groups, some people might not be able to tolerate these kinds of subjects.
Anyway, that was pretty funny- "you ageists"

What intellectual ability? Children (and adults) of all ages in America are becoming lazier and more ignorant. They think that because they can go on the Web and Google something, they actually know something, but in fact it is very difficult nowadays to find anyone with a great depth of knowledge.

One six year old cannot handle politics.
Therefore, all six-year-old children cannot handle politics.
Hasty generalization?

Only if we had rational discourse.
