if you copy songs from a downloaded scratch project into your iTunes library and then put it on your iPod, does that count as Piracy, or anything illegal like that? thx!

It is totally legal because of "the “Fair Use” doctrine incorporated into the Copyright Act of 1976, 17 U.S.C. § 107", and "All projects shared on the Scratch website, as well as the Scratch support materials, are shared under the Creative Commons license with the conditions: Attribution - Share Alike." Which states: "You are free:
* to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work
* to Remix — to adapt the work
* to make commercial use of the work"
That would be sharing it.
However,
"Other Rights — In no way are any of the following rights affected by the license:
* Your fair dealing or fair use rights, or other applicable copyright exceptions and limitations;"
means that if it is protected by a copyright, then the copyright holder legally can sue you. So, my answer to you, is, sure, you can use it, but don't advertise that you got it for free or that you have not bought it.
TL;DR:
sure, you can use it

Technically using the download on your computer is legal, but there may be other laws about when transferring to another device. Though I believe it is legal.

Yeah, I was more addressing the direct usage on your computer.

It's legal if:
You own the song (So you have already brought it)
And the person who shared it brought it.
IF you do not own the song, but the other person does - you are free to listen to it on the project - but not redistribute it.
IF neither side own it, then it should not be on Scratch.

So your saying using a song someone else owns on scratch on scratch, is illegal? I believe you can legally use the songs on scratch, because of fair use, but even using it on the computer elsewhere I am not sure of...

Songs used on Scratch should be free for everyone to use - if a song used in a project is commercial or not allowed to be used, then I guess you should flag the project
So if there were a song in a Scratch project that isn't commercial and can be used, I guess you could put it on your iPod
I hope I'm not confused here xD

No, you're right.

My cousin is a layer, she is right here. She says "No, it is not piracy, unless you try to sell the iPod with the music on it"

I would think that uploading a project to scratch which contains copyrighted material without prior consent from the owner is illegal, so downloading the project is also illegal.
Which ever rights apply to the music, apply to it anywhere no matter whether it's on scratch or not
Edit: basically what Johnathan said

I get all that, i mean you said that using a song from a scratch project on a scratch project is illegal, I don't believe that is true...

I knew it.

no, what jonathan meant was that if a song was copyrighted (for example Poker Face by LadyGaga) then it would be illegal to put it in a scratch project.
But if someone made a song themselves and put it in a scratch project, then everyone would be able to use it for anything as if they put a copyright on it it would be breaking the Scratch Website Terms of use http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Terms_of_use and so their project should be taken down.

It's piracy if you copy a song that the project owner didn't want you to, but if they didn't copy that song and let you use it, then it's okay!

So if you sell it and forget to erase the music, it's illegal?

prrrrretty much. actually, if you sell your ipod and forget to erase the music you paid for, it's still illegal.

No offense, but your cousin isn't a very good lawyer OR you misinterpreted what he said.
Or something else, but what you said your cousin said is not true.
