But some books may be too scary or inappropriate for kids. You don't hand a 3rd grader Stephen King and say, "here, go read it."

Yeah, unless the third grade is an intelligent reader and likes to read that kind of stuff(unlike me, well I am intelligent)

Even if he is an intelligent reader...
I read The Eyes of the Dragon, and there was some pretty hefty stuff for children, and that's actually the only Stephen King book that was mild enough for the library to allow.

It would probably be more scary for me now than then, because in fourth grade I was good at reading but I probably still wouldn't pick it up as much. Then something happens to your mind between fourth and fifth grades... which makes you get it o_o
