How do I do a vertical linear gradient?
And how do I put in a gradient at all??

I don't understand why GIMP doesn't have fill with gradient... its a great program anyways especially for the price... $0

fill with gradient is basically something exclusive to Scratch in my experience
you can select a section and then fill the selection with a gradient

I love gimp. Shall I create a series of tutorials? Go to the gimp site and check out the tutorials. Just go through apl of them for fun, then its not too hard.

Create a new layer over in the right window. Then go into layer, alpha, add alpha channel. Then try the gradient and transparency.
