So while I was walking home, I saw something so terrible!
There was this machine that some workers were using to destroy trees!
It ate through a whole tree like how my rabbit eats through a celery stick.
That's why i'm holding my own mini SDS, Save the Trees!

Please make projects about saving trees to bring awareness to deforestation, or the destruction of forests.

Here are some facts to help you on a project:

* Seventy percent of Earth’s land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes.
* Every hour, at least 4,500 acres of forest fall to chain saws, machetes, flames, or bulldozers.
* Worldwide, 1.6 billion people rely on forest products for all or part of their livelihoods.
* The United States has less than 5% of the world's population yet consumes more than 30% of the world's paper.
* Trees provide an important ecosystem function by storing carbon, a cause of climate change, in their biomass.
* Nearly half of the world's species of plants, animals and microorganisms will be destroyed or severely threatened over the next quarter century due to rainforest deforestation.
* Experts estimates that we are losing 137 plant, animal and insect species every single day due to rainforest deforestation. That equates to 50,000 species a year.
* Currently, 121 prescription drugs currently sold worldwide come from plant-derived sources.
* At least 3000 fruits are found in the rainforests; of these only 200 are now in use in the Western World.
* The U.S. National Cancer Institute has identified 3000 plants that are active against cancer cells.
