How do you connect squeak to the scratch.changes file?
I've tried the following so don't suggest:
Opening the scratch.changes file in scratch
This is what it says if i close scratch:
And is what it says this when i open it:
Please don't move in Advanced topic because half of this has to do with troubleshooting

So my suggestion of installing another copy of Scratch elsewhere and using that doesn't help?

Nope.
Check your working directory (the place where the Scratch files are stored) and check to make sure that there is a file called scratch.changes, because that's where the root of the problem is. I can't imagine where else the problem could be except for that missing/corrupted file.
There's a copy of Scratch files here - you can try unzipping that file and replace the current scratch.changes files with the one in the zipped file.
