Why does iOS 5 require an iPod Touch 3G or 4G? I want the new features on my 2G. And why does Lion require two gigabytes of RAM? My Mac has one. Those aren't questions you can answer, but I wanted to ask them anyway.

iOS 5 requires a newer iPod for the same reason previous iOS releases did. The performance would seriously Be degraded. Also it does not have the required hardware.

Lion needs the sames things.

Because as features advance, older hardware can't run them as well. By the time iOS 5 rolls around, the 2G's hardware will be too far outdated to properly handle it.

With iOS 5? No, because the 8GB 3rd gen was in every way a re-branded 2nd gen. I have the same one. Trust me, I feel ripped off too.

There is no 8GB third gen. All 8GB Models are either first, second, or fourth gen. Yours would be a second gen so no it would not

I had a 2nd gen which i sold to my mom a month before 4.3 which it did not support lol

go to The iOS 5 Website to learn more. It includes free testing to iOS devices and the notifications center. As well as photo editing and twitter inetergrtion. You have an option of up to 3 different routes in the maps directions. there are 200 new features in total
