Sometimes while posting comments I get this message:
"Sorry, you have posted a very similar message recently."
I know it's designed to prevent spam, but it gets really annoying when I try saying 'Thanks!' and 'Good job!' and such.
Maybe Scratch could develop, like, a safe chat or something where certain words are registered as o.k. and not spam. It would help a lot.
Thanks for reading this post.

I know it might annoy you, but try to make it more creative. Instead of 'thanks' you could say 'thanks! I'm so glad you like it!'

I agree, It annoys me a lot. Like i'll say lol, and then on the next project i have to say lolz, then lolololol, and so on.

It annoys me too, but when I'm saying "Thanks " I put an extra space between "Thanks" and " ". It actually works, while still looking the same as the previous post, because it deletes the extra space

I usually just put "Thanks pokemongardevoir" or whatever the name of the person was. It makes it more personal and different enough that the spam filter isn't triggered.

Yeah, that's what i do to get around it, but sometimes i just want to keep it short and sweet, if you know what i mean.

Its used to control spam, if it wasn't there, then there would be 5 times the amount of (link to project) comments on the Scratch website. If you want to reply to a comment, and it only lets you say "thanks" twice, you can change it a little. Examples: Thanks, thanx thank you, ect. If you add different smilies to the end of the message it makes the message completely different message as well.

Just add something like this if you say "LOL!" once next time say "LOL!!". That's what I do.

If they allowed phrases like "thanks" or "you're welcome!" then spammers would just spam those phrases, making their spam even more irrelevant.
Exactly, there needs to be some limitations such as this to discourage them.

Just vary your comments some! I know it can get annoying when thanking people for comments, but instead of viewing it as an annoyance, why not look at it as an opportunity to make your comments more meaningful?

Some Scratcher I saw wrote:
I would say thanks, but the comment filter said "You have posted a very similar message recently", so I can't, but I think that took care of it.
xP
EDIT: This is relevant, as it shows what you can do.

I had a problem with the message thing as well, and it wasn't a thank you or you're welcome sort of thing. I had a virtual party thing and I was inviting my friends on Scratch. I rephrased it and got the message. Rephrased again. Got the message. Rephrased it a LOT. Message. This continued 5 times until I just said I kept getting the message and to look at one of my latest projects about it. Maybe since there is a "Scratcher" status in the forum, have that on the main site so it doesn't do that.

I think they were gonna get rid of it on your own projects....
They did a while ago.
When?
