Has anyone heard of Lego's Mindstorm NXT?
It's this thing where you can build robots and program them to do stuff.
Several weeks ago, a professor came to my class and taught my class how to make a sumo robot and we competed. Quite fun, actually.
Last weekend, I went the the class of that same professor and we got into more detail. Quite fun, actually.
Now my mom says I can buy one
The newest one even has a colour sensor!

I actually worked with Mindstorms for 4 years in grades 5-8 for my school's lego robotics league. It was a lot of fun, and it really sparked my interest in engineering and programming. I actually own the RCX kit (the older set) myself, and have a lot of fun with it. Unfortunately, the software is so old that the newer operating systems on our computers aren't fully compatible anymore though.

I have the first version of the Mindstorms NXT. When I got it, I built the starter robot, played around with it a bit, and left it. (I've basically left everything for my laptop now--except for some PS2 games occasionally.

I haven't ever used any Mindstorm sets, but they do look awesome. But I do have one of the Vex Robotics kits. They are awesome, and there are even big robotics competitions all over the world that use them!

*envious.*
I so want one. I looked at one robot for ten minutes in my LEGO magazine.

I love nxt, but, unfortunately, i lost the software. also, broken alpha rex is broken. I built the thing PERFECTLY, but it REFUSES to move anywhere when it moves its legs. It did, however, find a way to fall off my desk when i wasn't running a program.

I'd love to mess with one but they're way too expensive, especially here in Chile due to importing costs and stuff.

I have the first gen. I am in my school's robotics league, too. Quite fun.

I used to use mine until I started doing other stuff like Scratch...

I've always wanted one of these. I was going to make it clean my room.
I'm sure you'll have fun with this. Hopefully Mindstorms 3.0 will come out soon. I might buy it then.
By the way, you can buy additional sensors and features for your robot at lego.com. My favorite is an infrared sensor that allows it to hook up with Lego Power Function remote controls. I even made an NXT game: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/martianshark/1173771
