What I'm actually talking about is the choose forum section.
Currently, it looks like this:
Select where to search
ForumCode:
All forums SCRATCH Announcements New Scratch Members Show and tell FAQ All About Scratch Advanced Topics Suggestions Troubleshooting Sensor Boards SCRATCH IN OTHER LANGUAGES Deutsch Español Français Italiano 中文 Ελληνικά 한국어 Português Norsk Nederlands Türkçe Polski Translating Scratch Other languages INSPIRATION AND MORE Collaboration Requests Project Ideas Miscellaneous Collab Challenge 2011 ARCHIVED FORUMS Inspiration and more Text-based games Educators Scratch Day 2009 Scratch @ MIT Conference 2008
(THIS IS WHAT CAPITALS MEAN)
I think that you should be able to choose more than one forum, but not all.
Either:
▪ Be able to choose the groups, with the following values:
▪ ▪ Scratch: -2
▪ ▪ Scratch in Other Languages: -3
▪ ▪ Inspiration and More: -4
▪ ▪ Archived Forums: -5
▪ Or have a cool checkbox, like the default MediaWiki search (here in the Scratch Wiki), like this (not a dropdown): (☐ is a checkbox)
☐ All forums ☐ SCRATCH ☐ Announcements ☐ New Scratch Members ☐ Show and tell ☐ FAQ ☐ All About Scratch ☐ Advanced Topics ☐ Suggestions ☐ Troubleshooting ☐ Sensor Boards ☐ SCRATCH IN OTHER LANGUAGES ☐ Deutsch ☐ Español ☐ Français ☐ עברית ☐ Italiano ☐ 日本語 ☐ 中文 ☐ Ελληνικά ☐ 한국어 ☐ Português ☐ Norsk ☐ Nederlands ☐ Türkçe ☐ Polski ☐ Translating Scratch ☐ Other languages ☐ INSPIRATION AND MORE ☐ Collaboration ☐ Requests ☐ Project Ideas ☐ Miscellaneous ☐ Collab Challenge 2011 ☐ ARCHIVED FORUMS ☐ Inspiration and more ☐ Text-based games ☐ Educators ☐ Scratch Day 2009 ☐ Scratch @ MIT Conference 2008
For example, if I wanted to search in the “Scratch” forums and Miscellaneous, it would look like this:
☐ All forums ☑ SCRATCH ☐ Announcements ☐ New Scratch Members ☐ Show and tell ☐ FAQ ☐ All About Scratch ☐ Advanced Topics ☐ Suggestions ☐ Troubleshooting ☐ Sensor Boards ☐ SCRATCH IN OTHER LANGUAGES ☐ Deutsch ☐ Español ☐ Français ☐ עברית ☐ Italiano ☐ 日本語 ☐ 中文 ☐ Ελληνικά ☐ 한국어 ☐ Português ☐ Norsk ☐ Nederlands ☐ Türkçe ☐ Polski ☐ Translating Scratch ☐ Other languages ☐ INSPIRATION AND MORE ☐ Collaboration ☐ Requests ☐ Project Ideas ☑ Miscellaneous ☐ Collab Challenge 2011 ☐ ARCHIVED FORUMS ☐ Inspiration and more ☐ Text-based games ☐ Educators ☐ Scratch Day 2009 ☐ Scratch @ MIT Conference 2008
Would either of these make it easier?

I assume that means both.

Agreed. Lots of times I can't remember exactly where what I'm looking for is, but I have an idea of which forum it was in. I think it would also be nice if we could have a preview of the body text, since a title completely different than what you're searching for doesn't help much if you're looking for a little snippet of information. (of course, that's sort of a different suggestion entirely.)

I support 1, number 2 has more room for error...

I don't find this necessary...
By the way,
◙ (U+25D9) is inverse white circle.
☐ (U+2610) is ballot box.
☑ (U+2611) is ballot box with check.

Another problem:
If, in the search bar at the top of a forum page, I type in the full name of a thread, it says "no results found". I have to find shortcuts.

Thanks for the tip!

I like number two

I support both, the forums search really needs to be improved.

support 2. Much more neat and customizy.

I support number 2.

Support. The search function is fairly good as it is but I really would like the ability to be more selective in where we search since we are limited to one section at a time. Both methods seems okay for me.

#2, of course

I actually thought that it would be good if the results came out grouped into topics... And you could choose whether to search for topics or posts
I support both:)

I support both:)
You can choose whether to search inn posts, topics, or both! I think it's the last input.
