Chapter 1

I'm falling towards the Earth at practically warp speed, burning up, I'm like a shooting star. I burst through the atmosphere and see a flash of bright light.

I wake up in bed as lightning illuminates the sky. I flip on the weather and, like usual, there is a meteor shower today.

I was born around 3:00 PM 13 years ago when 3 bright meteors streaked across the sky. Before the meteors flew above the hospital, the doctors said I wouldn't make it.
A window was open at the time, and a trickle of light from the meteors came into my room, landing right on me. I stopped crying, and I opened up my eyes.

Today is my 13th birthday, and it's May Day, the same day my mother and father got married. They were married 3 years before I was born. Every year, one more meteor is in the sky. This time, it's the 16th meteor that is strange- it doesn't go straight. It falls towards me. I step outside and watch the meteor zoom down. It curves towards me- and the meteor lands in my hands with a thump.

What has happened to my life?

Chapter 2

The meteor reflects off of my hands without doing major damage, and my hand feels like the surface of a meteorite, bumpy and dry. I check inside the abandoned house one more time, and go to find another hiding spot.

In case you don't know, I've been on the run for 5 and a half years. When I was eight, my father divorced my mother and I was separated from my mother in a line for a plane flight to Seattle.
I've been using houses to get food, water, and shelter, and I raid the fridges for any meats or dairy because they don't last long.
When I'm not on the run, I'm chatting with my friends and- at school. I change names every year, but my friends always recognize me.

Samuel, my boyfriend, walks down the street and goes over to the electronics store to buy new batteries for his camera. Nothing unusual.
Suddenly, alarms go off as I notice a small, round thing flying through the air. A boy who's in my class, named Andrew, grabs it and kicks it like it's a soccer ball. It explodes in midair, and I realize what it was.

Another one is thrown at my head and I realize meteors are still flying across the sky. A small one clunks to my feet and I throw it at my attempted murderer's head and it knocks him out. Brandon, Samuel's brother, catches a grenade, tosses it back at the thrower, and even though it's only a stun grenade, the scout who threw it is flung backwards and is knocked out from the force.

I notice some more meteors to my right, and I throw them very hard and they pierce a troop's skin, leaving a wound that is pouring out blood. The medics take care of him and I go and chuck a few more meteors and they take out 2 more men.

And then a bullet pierces my left leg, I let out a scream, and collapse.

Chapter 3

Samuel, Brandon, Andrew, and a girl in my class named Sophie are in the hospital room when I wake up. Samuel seemed to be- crying? I looked over to the heart monitor, and it was just a flat line. No- this didn't happen! I'm not dead!
Samuel pulls out the meteor that he caught that I threw before I was shot and he lays his hand on my wound, unknowingly touching the meteor to my wound, and the bullet wound seals up. But I'm still dead.

Samuel grabs me and holds onto my hand.
"I'll miss you, you know."
Electricity seems to crackle through his hands and down my body and with a shock of electricity to 'wake' me up and the monitor starts showing small bumps, and they become normal heartbeats.

Next thing I know, I'm... alive again.
