Terraria is a great game that borrows aspects of Minecraft too make a unique 2D side scrolling experience. You can create items, fight bosses, and explore the world.
You can share pictures, talk about the game, and maybe (please) set up a server for us Scratchers.

We can't all be curing diseases or trolling Scratch you know? Anyway, I'm going to try and get people to keep it all in here. And I don't think ONE TOPIC warrants it being spam. Just because two games are similar doesn't mean that they don't deserve separate topics.
I forget whose signature it was but it was something about pessimists always being pleased yet never disappointed
and I'm just saying. you know it's gonna happen eventually

Well, the people who complain are more annoying than one topic. Let's just wait until there are 100 topics and THEN start complaining.

You still have a Commodore 64? Welcome to the club! *hi-five*
Mine's broken, and by broken I mean fried by the power supply.
I have to use emulators.

I bought my C64 off of Ebay, so "still" does not apply.
I have a datasette drive for it, but it's only mostly games for PAL C64's that use tapes, so I need a disk drive BAD. All I have that is original and works for the machine right now is a Q*Bert cartridge which is actually not bad at all. Once I get my drive I'll probably try to hunt down a copy of Rescue on Fractalus!, which I got hooked on playing it on a Atari 800 emulator, (another thing I really want is a Atari 800/800XL) and I hope the C64 game is as good.
WHOOPS I went on a rant again. Back on topic!

Terraria is about spelunking and crafting, while Minecraft is about exploring and building.

But still, Terraria seems to have RPG elements and is in 2D, while Minecraft is in 3D and, um, doesn't have RPG elements.

Want me to make a review of the game to clear up the differences and highlight Terraria's ups and downs?

Terraria Review:
Upsides: Terraria has simplistic but amazing pixel art graphics. Exploring and combat is an obvious highlight of the game. There are three major sections to explore and fight in where you can also summon bosses: Eater Of Worlds, Eye of Cthulu, and Skeletron. These all have a different ways to summon them. The combat has many, many, many weapons as well as 50 enemies to fight with your arsenal.
Downsides: You just don't have enough to build with in this. Decorational items are limited to a few simple furnitures and the 2D doesn't allow much to be amazing, placing blocks also feels challenging in the game. Other upsides and downsides in the MC comparison.
Minecraft Comparison: For this part we will list similarities and see who does what better:
Blocks: Obviously, both games have block creation and deletion. But who utilizes the addicting formula better? In Minecraft the 3D world allows for precision and ease, but in Terraria block placing and placing seems clunky and unbalanced. Building is challenging and aiming is difficult. MC wins this round.
Crafting: Both games feature crafting to create new items and use stuff you've mined and found. Minecraft features many recipes that users draw with their items to create objects. Terraria features a list of any items you can currently craft with items in your inventory. So who wins for best crafting mechanic? I've gotta say Minecraft. While Terraria's crafting is user friendly, Minecraft explains how all these materials are working together and is just more convincing and overall better then Terraria's.
Combat: As I said before, combat is a definite upside to Terraria, but a good battle in MC can be fun too. In MC, there are two general weapons (swords having multiple duplicates due to upgraded mineral) and in Terraria there are many, many, many, weapons. There are also around 50 monsters and enemies to fight. That's only about 42 more than MC. Terraria wins here.
Exploring and Mining: (Combined for lengths sake) In MC, you strip mine, and strip mine, and strip mine. But don't get me wrong there are plenty of thrilling caves and amazing sights to be seen both under and aboveground. If you don't really need the mineral, then take a boat and look for an epic landscape. In Terraria, there's no need for that much searching, most caves are above ground and if not, dig a whole for a little bit and you will find one. There are many cliffs and monsters to be seen and minerals to find, but aboveground exploration is lacking. The best it gets in aboveground exploring is finding a nice flatspot to build something. There can't be many (if any) epic areas due to the whole 2D thing. So while Terraria wins this round,
Minecraft gets a consolation of best scenery.
TL:DR: Minecraft handles crafting and building much better, but for fast paced combat and fun mining and cave hunts, get Terraria.

Pokemon is for little kids and why are you comparing the two in the first place.
And yes, Minecraft is. It plays on your fear factor and anything can happen at anytime.

If you think pokemon is for little kids, then calculate me the experience a turtwig needs to get from level 15 to level 20
But really, Pokemon is not for little kids. Little kids don't even understand it (like my sister).

Well, it was "for little kids" by like 4th grade at my school. Besides, there's no need to know the amount of XP it would take. You'll get there if you fight enough.
And still, there is no reason to compare the two. One is an action/adventure game with mining and crafting, the other one is a birds-eye view anime RPG.
