CyprusOyster Productions is a team of which I will be the leader and arbiter. It currently has five people: myself, Nuttlajer, Vista, soupoftomato, and bbbeb.
I'm planning to make my first ever game with this team: Vocabulary RPG. It'll be a battle RPG, kind of a rip-off of AdventureQuest.
However, this RPG will be special because you have to use your brain to play it. In order to deal critical hits to monsters, you will have to answer vocabulary questions. The higher your level, the harder the vocab questions become.
I would like a few Scratchers to join CyprusOyster Productions... no more than 3. The prerequisites are that you have good spelling/grammar/punctuation, that you are at least level 30 on freerice.com, and that you have encountered me on this website before. Ideally you should already have created a few projects, so that you are not completely new to Scratch.
I will program most of it myself, but I'll probably need another programmer as well. I need a decent artist to draw some backgrounds, NPCs, weapons, armor, and monsters (not on Scratch, but on Photoshop or Gimp or something more artsy). The artist should also be something of an animator, as there must be animations for battle. I also need someone for beta testing and to come up with ideas for quests. Nuttlajer has agreed to be an artist, but another one's always good.
So post here if you fulfill the requirements and are interested in being part of CyprusOyster Productions, and in creating possibly the greatest RPG game ever to be made into a Scratch project.
I believe that's enough people.

I'll join your collaboration team, but I'll only be able to supply music and ideas until my parents allow me to install Scratch on here.

Yay, another sorta kinda maybe possible member!
I appreciate it.

Hey, do you think I should set up an email account for this company? The email could be accessible to all members...

I'll join but I'm not in love with the idea of a vocabulary game . . .

Thanks.
But why are you not in love with the idea? Adding an element of learning to a fun game. It would be like mixing vegetables in with fried chicken. Or berries with ice cream.

Oh, and will you be a programmer or an artist? Programmer, right?

Berries are too good to be considered learning in a simile.
I don't want to play educational games.

I anticipated that. There are no really fun educational games (unless you count Scrabble), but it would be a good thing if we changed that. And that is the goal of Vocabulary RPG.
Plus, it is going to be fun, because there will be fighting, and monsters, and weapons, and leveling up.

Well, take out the vocabulary questions or at least make them a side thought and come up with a more fun way to implement learning if it must be. Why do you want to make an educational game so badly anyway? Having us make your school project?

Such as...?

Heck no. I wouldn't do that.
Besides, I don't have a computer class anyway. The only homework I have left for the entire school year is to study for two tests.

Well, the vocabulary games could be something like benjamin2's Scratch version of the TBG I made: Word Sandwich. Perhaps you could make something like that in the game.

Link?
I'm planning to make it so that when you attack a monster you can either do a normal attack or a special attack, and special attack does twice the damage but you have to answer a vocab question.

Oh, I'm sorry, it was mathematics
Here's the link: the link (literally)
How about items? And are there going to be action commands (like type "this" to do more damage)?
Offline
There's going to be health and mana potions. There'll probably be other items too, but I haven't thought of any.
It's going to be like http://freerice.com/ combined with http://www.battleon.com/

I know it'll be an RPG, but why AdventureQuest? Any specific reason, or just a whim?
Offline
Because AdventureQuest = awesome battle engine.
This one will be simplified, so instead of 6 stats there will be 3: Strength, Agility, and Intellect. Strength will contribute to Melee damage, Agility to Ranged, and Intellect to Magic.

Hello bbbeb and WELCOME.
