Forum Messaging Notifications

I would love it if the scratch messaging service sent you a message telling you that "xuser has replied to your forum thread: BlahBlahBlah" or "xuser has commented on :BlahBlahBlah2" or "xuser has quoted you on thread: BlahBlahBlah3". It's just annoying not knowing if you have a response to a particular thread in the forums.

Re: Forum Messaging Notifications

I agree. If this could be implemented fairly easily, I'd love to see it. I usually check all the forums I post in regularly anyway, but it would be nice to know right away when someone replies to me.

Re: Forum Messaging Notifications

That would be good, but you would need an option to turn it off otherwise your notifications would be flooded!

Re: Forum Messaging Notifications

Use the "Show your posts" link at the bottom or the "Posts" link beside your posts..

For example, the link for Optimax-DJ is http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/search.ph … r_id=82897.

I meant that a message would appear in your messages when you are on the front page, where your comment notifications usually are.

Re: Forum Messaging Notifications

There was a forum feature where you would get an email when somebody posted on your thread.  Unfortunately, it gave the server gas pains or something and it had to be disabled.  I would love to see that functionality put back though, maybe using the Scratch message system, as you say  smile

I believe it would be because the server was sending so much data throught the emails, that it couldn't keep up with the Scratch community  wink  .  Instead of sending it to the normal Messaging system, it should send it to a secondary one, so your normal messages can keep sorted  wink  .  This function would be great for people who like to keep track of threads  wink  !  Therefore, I support!

Re: Forum Messaging Notifications

This would be great.. However, because a lot of people get replys to posts in the forums, maybe the messages should be spit into two different sections, normal messages above forums messages. Right now its like "1 message". So maybe instead of it saying you have 20 messages when 19 of them are replys from the forums, it could say, "19 replys to post in forums" or something like that. I totally support!!  big_smile

Re: Forum Messaging Notifications

I support, though it would be better if they used ssss's idea of having a seperate messages section for forum replies.
