By itself, the pear isn't rude, it's usually the way it's used that may be rude. It's kind of similar to the "Cool Story Bro" spam - by itself it's nothing, but posting it on a thread usually symbolizes that the poster doesn't care much about the original topic at hand.

I see a "404 not found" website, which is a pretty rude way to tell someone that they cannot see the picture!
