Square is usually lead, triangle is usually bass, and noise is usually percussion.

Square alone, too annoying. Triangle alone, way too much harmonics, can barely hear any bass. Noise however can be given pretty interesting uses if you know how to heavily modify it, so I'll pick noise  big_smile

hmmm...  i'm gonna say squares, they're the main part that most people define as "8-bit" and they can do what both others can do with some modification.

Pwnt.  tongue  I guess square could act as bass like the triangle (though with a different tone). But it's nowhere near noise. Or DCPM (sp?), you seem to ignore that one. Basically that channel can play recorded sound effects but in a very low quality.

Like I said, I find square waves kinda annoying. But yeah, they usually play the main melody.
