When I open up Scratch on my Mac and try to use the camera, the only thing I get is a black box. The worst thing is there are any settings, so I can't just "select a camera"
- which I think should be something that could be look into.

Does the same camera work on other apps? Is it built in, or USB, and if USB, are there drivers installed for it? Are there multiple cameras connected? Is the camera covered by something? Do you have a webcam?
Sorry about the 5 questions.
Just so you know, an external camera (except webcams) won't work as actual cameras that can be used in apps for like video chatting or Scratch. You can take the pictures off those and import them though.

It does work elsewhere. It is built in. No multiple cameras are connected. And it is not covered. It is a webcam BTW. It works with stuff like Skype and such, but with Scratch it just doesn't work.
