I did notice the sticky that was just made, and it was making me want to post this.
With the constant spam, you could cause too much and close down Miscellaneous for good.
Think about it. Do you want to keep your off-topic forum?

Yes, but if it does get closed we could make a punbb hosting forum so we can make topics there

Such a forum would not be endorsed by the Scratch Team, to any degree.
We've discussed this time and time again, and while I personally would rather Miscellaneous be closed for good, it does serve a valuable purpose in the community and therefore must be tended to.

True, but if spam gets out of control and the moderators can't keep it under control, that's when the community has gone crazy.
It's possible and easy to imagine.
Maybe it's just a holiday somewhere: spam all 0ver your favorit3 f0rum (it's on purpose). Just using my imagination.

Not with me!
I meant the moderators and Scratch Team.

That's because people insist to think their spam isn't spam.
I can understand that.
I have to say, it's not all the poster's fault. Sometimes they don't know if it's spam and don't think about it. And of course, sometimes people spam just because. they like cheese d:

Honestly I love having Miscellaneous around, but some days I look at the drama that goes on around here and wonder why it's part of the Scratch forums, which, believe it or not, are supposed to center around discussion of the Scratch program and community. I definitely don't mind managing a little spam here and there, but it's the flame wars that make me want to bang my head against the keyboard. I think that a lot of arguments center around "trolling", and in my eyes, people who appear to be trolling are often doing one of these things:
- Actually trying to make a constructive criticism that is misinterpreted by someone else
- Blowing off steam by writing things that they don't really mean, but might offend others
The second of these isn't really acceptable behavior, but both stem from natural human emotions, and not a desire to troll -- to cause chaos for chaos' sake. Starting to label people as trolls can be just as likely to cause a flame war as engaging in behavior that might be interpreted as trolling. Basically, there's be a lot less argument around here if people took a moment to see both sides of the issue before making accusations.
And ihaveamac, in reference to the OP, I seriously doubt that Misc. is going anywhere, as long as it remains a constructive part of the Scratch community. We mods (and especially Cheddargirl, who seems to handle more flame war reports than the rest of us combined) just wish y'all would think before you post a little more often.
Keep calm and Scratch on.

the topic creators shuld b able 2 delete messages that r spam/flamebait
Actually, I think the current method of using the "report" button is a far better manner of handling the situation. The topic owners could delete things for all the wrong reasons, and a moderator would never know.
