The Ruptured Appendix

I had appendicitis, and my dad thought it was just a really bad virus (because it lasted for a few days before I went to the hospital) and I kept complaining my stomach and legs were hurting, and I was throwing up alot. then one sunday evening, I woke up and I couldn't really move without feeling pain, so I slowly got out of the rocking chair to walk to my dad (very slowly and wobbly) and tell him I was feeling pain around my stomach area.
He makes me sit up on the couch to see if it was just the way I was sleeping that made my stomach area hurt. then he made me eat some soup, and I could only eat like 7 spoon fulls of soup, then I go to sleep for the night.

February 7th, 2011

I wake up on Monday morning, and I get worse, i'm still throwing up, and i'm getting weaker and weaker (when going to the restroom, I look in the mirror and notice I look weak and tired, I got alot skinnier, and my tounge is dry and a grayich color). Then my dad comes back from work to take me to the hospital, and after they give me all the tests, they say my appendix is ruptured, and i'll need surgery to get it removed on the same day. I froze when I heard this news, but I stayed calm.

While i'm in the rolling bed thingy, some guys from LeBonheur roll me into an ambulance truck and take me to LeBonheur, and I stay in a room with my dad because we're waiting for the news about when i'm getting appendix removed.

The guy who gives the information about the surgery comes in and he says 7-10 other kids need to get their appendix removed, so I have to wait 'till tommorow to get the surgery (and I can't drink anything in that time (and I'm so freaking thirsty! all i've had is an IV ALL DAY!  yikes ) but I can eat ice chips, which helped just enough.  lol

it's the next day, around 3:00 or 4:00 something P.M., and the doctors say i'm ready for my surgery. The doctors get my on the tall bed thingy with wheels, and roll me to the lobby for whne your about to get surgery. I wait like 7 minutes with my parents in the lobby, and they say I can pick out a toy to take home, but I'm almost 13! I was like "I'm almost thirteen though, and, umm, I haven't played with a toy in a while" (I tried to be really polite, and lots of the nurses think i'm polite anyhow  lol ) and the doctor said: "there will probaby be something you like  big_smile " and they rolled me into the room with lots of HUGE Toy chests (they were kind of like chests of drawers except the had doors  tongue ) and they roll me past all the toys, I actually see something I actually LIKE, and it was a magnetic dart board, haven't had one of those yet  tongue

They open the door, take it out, and give it to me, then when I'm back in the lobby, I give it to my parents. After like a minute, this lady with a shot comes and asks if im ready, and I say yes, so she injects the shot in my IV thingy, and after a few seconds, I start to feel foggy, then they roll me to the surgical spot somewhere not in sight, and the next thing I remember, I wake up with my eyes closed and im feeling really tired (plus my throat was hurting a little bit for some bizzare reason but I later found out they stuck tubes down my mouth and into my lungs so they could pump oxygen in my lungs  yikes ), I try to open my eyes, and I manage to open them for like a second at a time.

While they are rolling back to my room, my mom and dad asks how I feel, and I say my throat is hurting a little, and i'm really tired. A little later, i'm back in my room and they put me back in my bed, and some of my family is there, and I manage to open my eys for some seconds and say hi to them, then I close my eys and I can hear and see bright lashes in my eyelids because my mom was taking pictures of me, but it dosn't take my long to fall back asleep.

Later in the evening, I wake up (I can't remember what time) and my dad is the only one with me now (I can't remember if he was sleeping or awake) and thats all I remember from that day.

The rest of this story isn't important, but here's the epilogue.

April 19th, 2011

Its the present, and I have one WHOLE sweet potatoe pie to myself, I got my blue belt on the 15th, and I'm in the adult part of the class now!  big_smile  Plus I recieved lots of candy and flavored drinks and stuff and I ate 3 WHOLE containers of pringles by myself.  big_smile

Well thats the only major thing that really happened to me (I might have been close to death because my electrolytes or whatever they are were low) but i'm glad im okay now.  smile

Injection in an IV Bag? Last time I checked, they moved to gas anesthesia. xD.

Aside from that, ouch... Dx

I had an injection through a connector in a vein in my hand, and an oxygen mask. And an IV XD

Re: Crazy near-death experiences...

I told my stepbrothers I was the master of cold. We went sledding one day, and we stayed there for an hour and my first stepbrother left. Then three hours later, me and my other stepbrother were very cold, and he left. I stayed there for four hours and came home. I said "Heya peeps" and they all screamed. My face was purple. Shortly after, the cold increased dramatically and I fell unconscious. I woke up almost an hour later.

I am still the master of cold.

Re: Crazy near-death experiences...

I had a molar pulled, not near death, actually I was numbed so I didn't even feel it, the dentist was literally pulling with all his might. He put his feet on the bottom of the chair and pulling.

The closest I've been to that is when the oral surgeon KO'ed me with n2o before pulling 8 teeth... Dx

I narrowly avoided being KOed while getting 4 teeth pulled.

I have this thing where I hate being KOed.  lol

Oh yeah, and there was the time I was peeling the kiwi with the apple peeler.

I took all the skin off the tips of two of my fingers. Bled too much, I guess. WHen I revived, my mom was holding a washcloth against them.

@somelia:
I don't get why people pass out so much. I've had half the skin on my palm ripped off (Eczema, screw you.) I was awake. I was also at school. Thankfully, it didn't bleed too much...

@Pecola1:

short for knocking out, or putting under anesthesia.

And i will KO you if you don't change your sig... xP

I've actually fainted seven times in my life.

Mostly it was hitting my head, but those two times (apple peeler and creek) it was different (I fainted from lack of oxygen in the creek.)

Once my friend was riding her bike and almost rode on top of me. She missed my spine (thank god) but accidentally fell on top of me. KO

The tips of my fingers. I already said that though. It hurt so much.

I remember when I revived seeing the sponge and how red it was, and then I screamed.
