Why not design an online poll, though? That would certainly give you a lot of data needed for your project.

We are also working on surveying our school, so that has given us plenty of data there. I tried making a facebook survey, but that has proven difficult. The problem is is that we need the association between gender and character, so we can't just say "Okay 200 guys replied to our poll, 100 girls, and then such and such people like this character..." We need it split to conduct the tests, which equates to 70 options on a poll, which is difficult to do...
