I just updated my VirtualBox installation from 3.2.6 to 4.0.6. Most of my VMs require USB 2.0 support, and Oracle made it so that I've to download an extension pack to get it with some other things. Even when I launch VirtualBox as admin AND give TrustedInstaller full control over C:\Program Files\Oracle, I get the following message:
Failed to install the extension pack
C:/Users/Owner/Downloads/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.0.6-71344.vbox-
extpack.
The installer failed with exit code 1: VBoxExtPackHelperApp.exe: error: Failed to rename the temporary
directory to the final one: VERR_ACCESS_DENIED ('C:
\PROGRA~1\Oracle\VIRTUA~1/ExtensionPacks/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-
_-inst-5752' -> 'C:
\PROGRA~1\Oracle\VIRTUA~1/ExtensionPacks/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack')
rcExit=1.Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: ExtPackManager
Interface: IExtPackManager {2451b1ba-ab1c-42fb-b453-c58433bea8c7}Help?
Also, this problem isn't troubleshot in the help file and I can't find the solution on the website.

I'm sorry but I never understand the treads you make.

I'm sorry. I jsut felt that you should know that your level of expertice is much higher than mine in this situation and, by the looks of it, much higher than the levels of many others too.
No offence.

Have you tried looking for the exit/result codes? They're there for a reason after all, so there's probably some documentation on what they mean.
I know that 1 means misc. error; catchall for general errors.
Wait, don't you use VBox? Did you have this problem?

I would personally just disable TrustedInstaller until you get it installed and then enable it again.
TrustedInstaller comes up as a user.
That's how I gave it full access.
So I should give it no access?

No, I haven't used VBox. What gave you that idea?
Oh and what about code 0x80004005?

I don't know, I have no experience with any security. I find it easier to simply remove viruses.

Bump.
I couldn't disable "Special Permissions" and "List folder contents" for TrustedInstaller.
Back to square one. Help?

If there is a folder C:
\PROGRA~1\Oracle\VIRTUA~1/ExtensionPacks/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-
_-inst-5752 then try to rename it to C:
\PROGRA~1\Oracle\VIRTUA~1/ExtensionPacks/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack.
I got that off the error message.
