This is Trekkie2000. I just realized that when quoting another scratcher, YOU CAN EDIT WHAT THEY SAY. This is bad. really bad. I mean, some flamer could quote me, and insert a bunch of swear words in my quote!!! I think the quote should scan the post to make sure that scratcher said that before it lets you quote some1.

It would be almost impossible to fix though...

Yep, you can falsely quote anyone on the forums. It should be discouraged though, as confusing other Scratchers or making it seem like a Scratcher has said something they haven't isn't usually a good joke to play.

There's almost no way anyone can prevent this from happening. Thats just one of the downsides with the internet.
If you see someone misquoting you, be sure to report it to the Scratch team.

You could prevent it. Before you post a message, it will scan the message for a [quote=(name) then, if that scratcher has any posts on that forum, it will check them all to see if any are consistant with your quote.
Hard but working.

And do YOU have experience with FluxBB? How exactly do you do that?

A lot of people use quote boxes for organization of text in long informational posts with many sections though. What would they do then? Misquoting people isn't usually that much of a problem, and it gets taken care of. This sounds a little extravagant to me.

Maybe you shouldn't edit text in quotes.
The forum can be changed to not allow you to edit the quotes, you just write your response and the one you're quoting is shown above the Text Box. That is, if the ST are masters at PHP (which I think they are), or if they change forum systems which would erase all the current posts and start over again.

Sometimes you want to correct part of their post though; for example, putting a spelling error in red or putting in your comments.
Also, if you know BBCode and some tricks, you can copy their post anyways. And what about only quoting part of a long post?

That's the opposite of #4 here.
I would say to just report misquotes.

This is not a good idea. See:

Good point.

This is a good suggestion, but I think, it would not be implemented.
blah more blah random stuff
What? Without that you would quit the forums? Then I can't help you...
See? That wouldn't be possible anymore if you would check misquoting.
