I was once in the top 50 or so. By the time my next big project is ready, I hope this is implemented!![]()
(I don't know why I put that pic in. Randomness.)
Me too!

Make "What the community is.." rows show 3 random projects from top 10
I love this idea. It would add a little "freshness" to the front page.

I really need to put this in my siggy... I'll do it once the collab challenge is over

Great idea. I totally support this.

I like this suggestion alot. I remeber that it was extremely hard to break into thos etop three, because once someone is there, it is almost impossible to surpass them. If they cycled through the top 10 (I think that going to 10 is the best number, as 20 would seem a little more like the design studio...) it would be easier for the best project to reach the top, and have more people shown on the front page.
I support, as long as the see more list stays the same, and the cycles stay lower than the top 15. I think that if you go past that, it defeats the purpose of "Top"

I like this idea a lot, too, but my only beef with it is the following:
Much of the discussion of the community involves what projects are on the front page. But if the front page is as dynamic as this suggestion would make it, that'd not be possible! I suppose it's not a terrible loss given all the improvements.

That's an interesting point. Thanks for bringing that up. I agree that the improvements this could bring would be greater than that loss, but it is interesting to think about...

Yes!
Look at [I don't want to name names, I'll get reported by some idiot] and lots of the others, they get front paged every time they put something up, and they don't even TRY to make projects of quality because they KNOW THEY WILL GET VIEWS.
In contrast, check out Illusionist or Blakman99, both scratchers of amazing skill who clearly put hours of work into their projects. Blahman has only once been front paged, and Illusionist (Who used to be an admin) is only recognized for one series.
Another way to help this would be to prevent one sratcher from having multiple projects front paged in one month (except design studio and newest projects, of course) I think that would be a better solution, but that's my opinion.

What we need to fix is the age limit for getting on the front page.
Maybe the limit should be 4 days ON the front page, not 4 to GET front page. See, a famous person can get there EASY in 4 days, but someone unnoticed would have a hard time doing that in 4 days.
That limit plays directly into famous peoples hands, they can get there in the short time and no one else can.

I think that works both ways, too - for most non-famous people, they barely make the front page, but then the front page pulls them to the top.

Noooo, it doesn't . . .

Care to elaborate? I think it does…

illusionist was only a mod, not admin.
@coolstuff: I think soupoftomato means it's hard to beak into the top loved/viewed sections, though if you do, you basically need to stop making projects for a while to get out.

Hey, if any of you really want to help out this suggestion, add this:

or this:
Vote to mix up the front page!

I had an idea similar to this. Instead or as well of top viewed, loved and remmixed there should be top loved per views and top remmixed per views.
For example a project with 40 views and 10 love-its would have 0.25 love-its per viewed and would therefore be better than a well known scratcher who dosen't make as good projects and gets 1000 views and 200 love-its which would have 0.2 love-its per view.
There would have to be a minimum number of views like 5 so that the projects just released that have 0 views 0 love-its do not get front paged.
This system would mean that good project by less well known scratchers would still get on the front page.

I think it should change every hour. Not few minutes. Too confusing.
Every time you refresh the page, like with newest & SDS.

I think the ST already declined this on here.

Ok everyone, should be live any minute now.
It'll be a little glitchy for an hour or two while the caches get synchronized, but should be all set by this evening.
Thanks for the great suggestion, scmb1!

What's the number that is picks out of?
It chooses 3 out of the top 10 for each "What the community is ..." row.
