What happened all of a sudden?

Hello. I am TimeFreeze. Many of you probably don't remember me, because most who do have left. I used to be a scratcher from 07 (07-08 on infinex, then 08-present on this), and I have witnessed it go through many changes.

Scratch Has Changed
All these new people, no old-timers on the frontpage anymore. Art, art, animation, animation. Where are the games? Furthermore, where are the GOOD games? I'm not calling the new people's games bad, but I just miss the old classic type of games, not all of the trite concepts that I see recurring over and over again on the frontpage. And simulations. Does anyone even know what that word means anymore? Simulations from people like Paddle2See and Archmage are long gone... Where did these things go?

Scratch Hasn't Changed (This is with complete disregard of the fact that the version hasn't changed in a LONG time)
Scratch is still Scratch, isn't it? Scratch will always be Scratch. It's still projects, it's still people, and it's still MIT. Top loved is still here, as well as top viewed. Hey, top downloaded left, but we all know why that happened. Regardless of all the changes, Scratch is still the same concept and people are still making the same things. Just like before, I think almost everybody will ignore this. When you look at the big picture, it is the same thing over and over again. What's changed?

Paradoxical, yes, but reality - it is. Why did I write this? At first, I was just venting to the community. No, venting to the computer. I was staring reality in the face and looking at it whole; nothing more, nothing less. But I thought it over, and perhaps this is what the future will be. Will everything be the same but different at the same time? Sure, maybe technology is evolving at alarming rates, but people are people. No machine will take away our soul from us. So regardless of how much technology will upgrade, we will be the same. What are your views?

All the same different world.

EDIT: What's with the whole Minecraft fiasco? I play MC, but I'm not addicted to it. Heck, I barely play. This is Scratch, not Minecraft. We have the MCforums for a reason.

There was a era of good games sometime. Like 1 and half or two years ago.

Re: What happened all of a sudden?

Actually, there's been way to many rants about the front page. We should just keep it to one topic.

Hey, at least there's some games on the front page now, good or not--before it was just 2 second animations followed by a random song, or "blah blah blah does blah blah blah to unfitting music".

I think P2S is become less popular because of the main-siters lower expectations and wrong perspective, for the last ST member to be front paged was probably lightnin', I think.

At least archmage came back and was on the front page in March.

I really should get back into making games. Then an old timer will be on the front page again.

IMO I don't see why people always seem to think of games as the only project with viewing... xD

Well it's up to them to make more simulations when they want to...

I just hope that every project gets what it deserves... though right now I'm more disappointed (disgusted is actually a better word  tongue ) with the forums. Well, Miscellaneous... not because of the place, but because of the immaturity.

What's been bothering me for a while is that someone will censor part of a word that they know is inappropriate (otherwise why would they censor part of it?); for example, supposing they want to say 'salad' they would say '*alad'. This is worse than just saying the word because they obviously know that it's not acceptable here.

And then two consequences:

     1. Someone will come along, quote the post, and say something along the lines of 'oh hahahaha yeah lol i know what you mean ;D'.

     2. Someone with a mind that takes in the literal meaning of things before the inappropriate meaning (checking if the words fit slang for example) will not understand and ask about it.

What's wrong those two is that they should have just ignored the post and reported it (if they wanted to reply to some other part of the post they can always edit it themselves  tongue )

It's more popular to post everything here, including new minecraft threads - even though there's an unofficial thread that was created in the hope of cleanup.

True with me too. However I do not play. I am simply intrested in Minecraft. As long as it's 2d... ...is it?

EDIT: Haha... it is 3d. But there's an alternative to this kind of "Minecraft"... I forgot what it's called, but it has the word "challenge" in.

I was here since dec. '07 on a different account, but I've stayed the whole time, so it doesn't seem to have changed so drastically, except for the FP.

I remember you and I totally agree.  I'm still trying to figure out how the front page hasn't changed at all even though the forums are crazy about it.  Comments are going up on projects about it.  People are leaving.  Yet nothing changes.

I joined back in 2008 and there were some pretty awesome projects back then. Games are still around, but you have to look for them.
