Eh, this website isn't the only one with waffle issues, the waffle fad probably had spread from somewhere else and got here. I remember how the waffle fad just exploded on another website because of that "Heroes" show where Hiro just wanted waffles.

Yeah!

I know what you're talking about here. I've seen it on many famous projects, especially newareagle's. All you have to do is flag them as inappropriate. Starting a rumor won't help anything.

And yes, I agree. The waffle tag should not be removed from all projects, but if you really hate it, you can delete it from your projects.

Are you sure? It's on the right of the + bit, which is on the right of each listed tag...

Maybe scimonster flagged the tag already somewhere else? It's possible to flag a tag, but only once - once the tag is flagged, the flag report link goes away.

I probably did...  I try and flag irrelevant tags on other people's projects and delete them on mine.

Is it just me, or are you not othered at all by waffle tags? I mean, it is one of the most searched-for tags, so it can be very useful!
I usually tag my own projects with 'waffles' and I'd prefer it if people don't flag me.
Also, I sometimes tag my friend's project with sorry [insert whatever here] tags.
He is fine with it and he watched me tagging it at school and I asked him first, so is that really a problem?

Well, it's not very relevant, can mess up searches ("I want a project that actually has waffles in it!"), and is annoying to many users 

Yes, waffles became a popular and acceptable place to self-promote/spam.

I believe this tag system is not best for community tagging; it made this easy to happen.

This started when one person decided to tag a bunch of projects as waffles.  A few others helped, but one person is all that is needed to make a tag popular.  It quickly made it on the front page and got more attention...

I think this is because it only takes one person adding a tag to give it full authority.  Tag pages are sorted by love it's and views instead of relevance to tags determined by the community.

(Here's how I believe FaveTags would prevent this.  (Or perhaps some other weighted tagging system would work.) )

It is a pretty useless tag, but if thats what people want to tag their projects with, let them.

You got me to become the Stupid Tags Police. To give you an idea of how many silly tags there are, I've flagged about 50 or so tags on about 7 projects.

Who wants to join the Waffles Police? Comment on one of my projects. Of course, don't tag the project with waffles, just comment.
