...a certain account on certain forums got hacked, and yucky images are being posted all over! Please do whatever you can to fight off this mess (somehow, Scratch Break wasn't affected)...

This problem is occurring rather quite often with external forums. It's best at this point not to post links to the external forums with the offending images so others are not encouraged to see them.

Maybe we should remove the links to forums that have been hit. I know of one already, but I'm not sure if there are more. How many have actually been hit?

I'm not really sure of the number that have been hit - but it seems like when a forum link is posted here, it has a tendency to get trolled/exploited by vengeful outsiders (or maybe someone is playing mind games and set up a hacking incident with the intention to shock visitors; who knows?).
Some of the links of hit forums have been removed, but if you see a link here on Scratch to a forum that has been hit pretty badly, hit the "report" button so a moderator or a Scratch Team member can remove them.

Okay, I'll keep an eye out.

Make your forums so that only approved members (Trusted) can post links and images.

So far, the only forum that I know that was hit was The Forums.
Remember, perma-ban on first sight of yucky images!

Don't go to Tackle Programming, it's really bad.

Thebuilderdd's TACKLE Forums got hit bad a few mins ago, but we have it cleared up, with much better security. If anyone wants to know how to make forums really secure without much work, tell me, and i will show you.

We'll never understand people.

It's become a LAW almost that any site that allows a user to type things in and post it there will be ruined if posted on the scratch forums and if the site is made by a scratch user.

Make a new group, and only allow that new group to post images and links. It'll beat the heaven out of them.

It's not actually external forums, it's punbb forums. It seems there security is lacking.

Well, any forum, regardless of the platform it uses, is still open to the possibility of being messed up by outsiders somehow whether it be through some troll posting bad stuff to someone abusing a security exploit - hence why I am referring to any external forums in general.

Actually, we made a new default group that can't post, and we then manually approve the members. we also banned known "yucky picture" websites.

They actually censored PunBB. I think that's what the scratch forums are hosted on, guys. Plus it really accomplishes nothing. Why censor it? It's just a forum hosting site. Just because other forums related to scratch got hacked on it does NOT mean you should censor it. There may not exactly be a reason not to, but there's no reason to do it either. It's like when you censored SJ. (I had to abbreviate.) Just because things are on there attacking scratch doesn't mean you should censor any mention of the hosting site, Just like PunBB. If you want to censor it get rid of the part that has to do with scratch.
