It's crazy how much they spent on these shuttles over the years- multimillion dollar craft and only in flight for a year total.

Hmm, you'll have to bring that up with the government. See why they're doing it. XD

Re: Shuttle Launch!!!!!

Some stats I heard/saw:
The booster rockets used 11K pounds of fuel a second!
The main tanks used fuel at a rate of emptying a backyard swimming pool in 25 seconds!
It was going at 13500 mph!
On the HD view, it went from more than 111K viewers to less than 100K in just a few seconds after the launch!

Watching replays now.  tongue

LOL at this: They spelled it "Endeavor" there.  NASA chose Endeavour to name it after some British ship.

Re: Shuttle Launch!!!!!

yikes  I missed a Shuttle Launch?!?  sad

Yup, only 1 more launch left ever.  sad

I make model rockets (small rockets that are like 1-3 feet tall, and use blackpowder motors), and I made a scale model of the shuttle awhile back. Maybe I should launch it on the same day as STS-135. I should video tape it, and post it online here.  smile

Well, I think the government wants NASA to go to Mars- that's something really worth watching!

Would be really cool to launch your own rocket with STS-135; why don't you call it Atlantis Jr.tongue
I'll make a different thread when the next one launches though.
