Connecting the Dots: A Video Game Thesis

*WARNING: Major Speculation (and possibly confusion) Ahead*

One day, I booted up my Neo Geo (yes, I was rich enough to buy that and a few games) to play some SvC Chaos. After a while, I noticed that Zero made an interesting point: like Reploids, humans can go Maverick.

After paying attention to this, I started a spiral of thought. I soon saw that his statement led to other Capcom games, and I delved deeper. Soon, I developed a huge cross-game idea tree that supposedly "connected the dots" to the mystery.

Let's go back to the definition of a Maverick in the Capcom universe: anyone or anything that becomes corrupt. I'm not talking about criminals, I'm talking about people who are on the edge of "Ashura's Grasp" as Akuma calls it. It's that serious. Now, if you're a big Capcom nerd, you're probably wondering [whiny]"But Aggy, the Capcom games are in separate universes! How could they be connected?"[/whiny] It's simple. In the Versus series, the entire Capcom universe is connected. The Versus series also implies that Capcom and SNK franchises exist in the same universe. Even outside the Versus series, There are numerous instances where characters from different games series come together. So, since Capcom themselves proved that it's all one universe, let's just stick with that.

Now to the actual theory. The origins of going Maverick lie in the Okami series. Yami must've had SOME form of human worship. That's where the Satsui no Hado came from. It was a gift bestowed by Yami to his followers, making the ultimate warriors. Even non-folllowers could access it, but Yami gave an "easy access". This is how humans became "Maverick". There are two other possible ways to go Maverick as a human. One is Psycho Power. Psycho Power is the divine power bestowed upon immortal beings, like Ingrid. In the hands of mortals like M. Bison, however, it turns them completely mad, while increasing their strength many-fold. The other way is Orochi Power. The Yagami Clan made a blood pact with the Snake Demon to get revenge on the fellow clans. They gained immense power, but were forever cursed to die young and be Orochi's follower's forever. Some members, like Iori, gain an additional curse: "The Riot of Blood". This causes them to go insane attack anyone in the vicinity. Now, since Yami was the root of all evil, Orochi must've been one of his servants, giving the Yagami clan similar powers. Orochi power is different, however, as it is Orochi's actual power, while the Satsui no Hado was already in humans in the first place. Mundus and his army of demons were also most likely late servants of Yami (One more way to go "pseudo-Maverick" is by injecting yourself with small amounts of the experimental virus Albert Wesker administrated to himself, which gives you superhuman abilities at the cost of your humanity.) Soon, with the invention of the Robot Masters, a problem came up: "How could we prevent them from going Maverick?" Robot Masters didn't have full personalities or free will, so they could be prevented from going Maverick easily. However, people like Dr. Wily abused this fact, creating entirely evil Robot Masters instead. Around the events of Megaman 8, a new factor came into play: Evil Energy. Evil Energy is an extraterrestrial form of energy that can cause the Satsui no Hado (or at least something to that affect) in Robot Masters. After Duo came to Earth to resolve the crisis, Wily kept some Evil Energy for himself to build his ultimate (and final) creation: Zero (the guy who started this train of thought). As a test, Wily created the "Roboenza" virus in Megaman 10 to see if Zero would have the desired affect. Dr. Light kept working on his final and ultimate creation, X, as an advanced version of a Robot Master. However, X's "Suffering Circuit" was not fully tested, and needed 30 years for diagnostics to complete. Light left a dying note to who ever found X to not open the capsule until 30 years after 20XX. X, however, was awakened in 21XX, 100 years later, by the archeologist Dr. Cain. Cain managed to copy X's schematics, creating a new breed of robots: the Reploids. However, Cain made imperfect copies, so the suffering circuits were flawed in design. This caused the first Reploid Mavericks, and also gave rise to the term "Maverick" in the first place. A team called the "Maverick Hunters" was formed to stop Maverick outbreaks, lead by Sigma, Cain's most advanced Reploid yet. After a while, the Maverick Hunters received reports of a "red-clad, long-haired Maverick", who would turn out to be Zero. While Sigma was battling Zero, he was just about to be killed, when Zero stopped and started experiencing immense pain. Wily had installed a program in Zero to bring especially strong opponents back to Wily, keeping him from killing them. Sigma, taking advantage of the opportunity, crushed the gem on Zero's forehead. This transferred Zero's malicious programming and the Evil Energy stored within him (which together made the powerful Zero Virus) to Sigma. Sigma's advanced circuitry seemed to do the job well, and Sigma seemingly remained stable. Zero was eventually installed with a Suffering Circuit of his own after he lost his memory from the battle. Meanwhile, Sigma's programming became fused with the virus, creating the Sigma Virus. Soon, Sigma went berserk and declared war against humanity, beginning the Maverick Wars. Near the end, Zero, realizing he was the source of the problem, sealed himself forever, and then separated his body and mind for scientific study. From his cognitive program came the Cyber-Elves, who were used to win the war. A man named Dr. Weil soon corrupted the Mother Elf into the Dark Elf in order to control all Reploids. To do this, he needed a host. He stole Zero's soulless body and planted a new consciousness in it: Omega. When he abused the Dark Elf's power, he was banished from Neo Arcadia to the desert. X sacrificed himself to seal the Dark Elf in his own body, turning his consciousness into a Cyber-Elf. To replace him, Copy X was made, but he went mad and started a human-supremecy regime. Zero's consciousness was placed in a new body and reactivated. Dr. Weil then returned and fused himself with the space station Ragnarok. After Zero defeated him, Ragnarok/Weil's core became Biometal W, and Ciel made Biometals X, Z, H, F, L, and P. Omega's remains became Biometal O. Biometal W made a Reploid named Serpent go Maverick and start a world organization, while he secretly caused Maverick outbreaks. In this time, Serpent issued that Humans gain cybernetic implants, and that Reploids be given "lifespans". He became further corrupted by Biometal W until he was defeated. It turns out that Master Albert made many copies of Model W, but that was taken care of. With the rise of the Carbons thousands of years later, Mavericks seemed to have disappeared for good.

TL;DR You are a Maverick.

Re: Connecting the Dots: A Video Game Thesis

Does that mean I have to go around killing the people that made me for a reason that amounts to "I am superior there for you must die" which has been done 50 hundred times before?

Aside from that I like to think all fictional works are one universe due to endless references and cameos all making one big web of fiction. TV Series A has a cameo of a character from Book Series B and Book Series B contains references to events from Comic Book C and Video Game Series D and you get the idea.

I also like to think fanfiction happens parallel to the official work as it is much more comforting considering some fanfiction I've had described to me.
