In all cases, the best solution is to step away from the gaming cartridge and og outside.. 

I haven't actually played the game in ages, and I never got to lavender town.

But I mean...

...Spent hours a few nights ago with headphones on....

...analyzing the song....

......fell asleep......

......dreamed of my Pikachu, you know the one that died?....

.......woke up the next morning.......

......saw a Pikachu in my front yard......

Yes. It's just a little sad. I really don't see the big deal.

The original song had these tiny screeches that were so high-pitched only children could hear them. This is true; your hearing range decreases when you get older. Anyway, they gave kids headaches, and the headaches were so bad they gave children suicidal thoughts and paranoia. The paranoia caused symptoms such as nosebleeds and nausea. And seeing Pikachu, Marowak, and your rival's dead Raticate.

... I beat Pokémon Blue. The only side effect was red eyes from playing all night.

How old were you when you played it?

Also, some people just aren't affected by it.
