Take finals week, for example.
I'm only in 7th grade, but I go to an advanced school and they make you start taking finals when you're in 6th grade. They just expect that we have no lives and that we have plenty of time to study the names of everyone that ever lived.
Number two: the homework. Oh how I loathe the homework. In fact, I'm supposed to be doing it right now, but I'm too burnt out from today to even start. How much busywork can we do?
Post any of your complaints about middle school here. It isn't that I hate school, I just hate certain aspects of it. Moderators, don't close it because we're complaining. We're just letting off steam.

Everything you said.
I have a teacher named "Mr. Sherin" Who gives us all sorts of homework that isn't science-based. I like science, I don't like random lessons.

You think middle school is evil? Wait till you get to High School, that'll be like the devil himself.

I've found the homework load tends to get a bit easier once you hit high school. I'm not sure if it's because you get less or because you know how to manage it better, but it gets easier. You're gonna have to get used to finals though, because you're going to be taking them all the way through college. It's only one week of hectic studying though, so it's not so bad. Plus, no homework or class, and then school's out!

It does sound evil.

No, we do. If you need proof, I can give it.
[ontopic] Anyway, yes, middle school is evil. I am in 6th grade, so I have a long way to go, but we don't do finals. But what we did do is a Pre-Algebra test to see what classes we will be in next year.

I have LOTS of homework. I have some right now. There are teachers at my school who make it seem like they're trying to get kids in trouble. I have been innocently convicted multiple times, and 'de-convicted' after explanations. But the year is almost over, so only a bit more work. By the way, I know what you mean about 'advanced school'.

It isn't ALL bad, there are some redeemable qualities. Like how you actually start learning more important stuff OR stuff that's just plain fun to learn.

Our school has high standards. EXTREMELY high standards. Think college level classes DX. They offer Latin to sixth graders and there are quite a few of the younger set that are already going into advanced algebra. At least in high school you can actually PICK what you learn.

Yea middle school can really STINK sometimes but sometimes I enjoy it anyway. I'm in 7th grade which is probably the worst year for middle school. After all, the 6th graders are given special treatment because they're new, and 8th graders rule the school. But I'll be ruling the school pretty soon though.
I'll be taking my HSA's soon but they aren't really that hard. And the finals aren't too bad... usually...

They're letting 6th graders take algebra? I wish my school offered that when I was in elementary school. I didn't get to take Algebra I until 8th grade. -_-
