When making/ thinking up a new Scratch project, I often find myself follwing the same general patteren for at least starting the project (example- title screen, slideshow type, you get the idea). So, what if you could save a project as a Template (like in Word)? You would make the basics of it and then save it and be able to access it in a "Template" part of the folder you save Scratch projects to. I know that you could do this now fairly simply, but this could be a cool feature for the "Cloud" version too.

That's what "save image for end-user" is for.

I don't know what that is... (and this is a second account and i've been on for almost a year on my other so it's not just being a newbie thing)

Ah, I see... I think... it seems a bit complicated though and not a commonly used feature. If this could just be put in the next version as a normal, easily accessed feature, that would be nice.

Bump I understand this can be done, but this would make it easier!

Good idea.

But then it always opens that way, and you can only have one saved. How would this work though? You could fairly easily make a project with the general layout you want as save it as a Scratch project, which you could open later.

He means a PROJECT template. This has nothing to do with editing the Scratch code.

you could very easily overwite it though by mistake. with Word, if you use a template you must do "save as" to save changes and the template itself remains untouched. I'm going for a similar idea in Scratch.
arg, 360 rule is so annoying... must get scratcher status 0_o

"Save Image for End User" is more for modifications of Scratch.
I would suggest saving a project as "Template - [ Template Name Here ]" and then Save As when you modify it. But this would be an interesting feature.

This would be cool if we had this. I don't use MS Word, I use OpenOffice, so I don't get it exactly, but it seems useful.

For now, yes... but i would be very mad if i accidentaly overwrote the template. Templates could also serve to give ideas to people newer to scratch (like the download/ area where you make it on the site for 2.0 would have pre-made templates that maybe we could submit to help the ST out )
