How long do I have to wait to become a Scratcher? Thanks!
The time depends on your overall activity on the main site and forums. Posting, making projects and commenting on other Scratchers projects all help towards becoming a Scratcher and it usually takes a few weeks .

Theirs not really much I can do to help.. Sorry. You might have more luck if you made a topic in the Troubleshooting section of the forums with a few more details - Eg: What the screen looks like when it crashes.

But then why isn't puppetadventurer a "Scratcher"? She/He has more forum posts than me and only one project less than me

Can New Scratchers post images? In the TBG, New TBGers can post images...
Proof is here.
Eh, they shouldn't be able to post images; since the New Scratcher/TBGer rank was created to stop the troll attacks, and those attacks involved images, it makes sense to prevent New Scratchers/TBGers from posting images.

Also, when you post a URL in the TBG, it turns into a link automatically.
That means New TBGers can also post links...
Proof is here.

I've been on the webiste 3-ish months now and am still a New Scratcher. I'm active on the website (commenting/faving projects) and have forty-some forum posts, I think. How can I get moved up to Scratcher?

If you've only just joined the forums, you may have noticed that you can't do some of the things that everyone else is doing. You'll probably have also noticed that the rank under your username is "New Scratcher" instead of "Scratcher". This was introduced as a way to combat some of the spam and trolling that was appearing on the forums .
To help, this is a list of everything you can/can't do for now. But first, if you're wondering how to become a Scratcher - The time varies depending on your overall activity on both the main site and forums. Just keep being active and friendly and soon your rank will change to Scratcher also.
Anyway, so far New Scratchers cannot:
1) Edit their own posts - Scratchers can edit posts they have made by pressing the edit button at the bottom of their posts, so if a user makes a mistake, they can change it etc: New Scratcher's don't have this button.
2) Delete their own posts - Scratchers can also delete their own posts with another button, but again. New Scratchers do not have this button.
3) Post or create threads in the Miscellaneous sections of the forums.
4) Post every minute - Scratchers can post another post every 60 seconds, for a New Scratcher the wait is 6 minutes.
5) Use image tags - New Scratchers cannot post images.
If the image tags are used in a post, then this message appears.
- Sorry, New Scratchers cannot place images in their posts. Please remove all BB code [url]tags.
6) Post links (unless they lead to somewhere on Scratch). - New Scratchers cannot post links unless they're on Scratch due to them being abused in the past. New Scratchers can still type a link as text however, eg: http://scratch.mit.edu.
A few examples of links New Scratchers can post are:
http://scratch.mit.edu - The homepage
http://scratch.mit.edu/users/06dknibbs - Users
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/06dknibbs/329606 - Projects
A link to somewhere off-site such as google results in this message though.
- Sorry, New Scratchers cannot post urls to websites other than Scratch in their posts. Please remove all BB code [url] tags.
7) Create signatures - New Scratchers cannot create signatures to go with their posts.
If you want to know why this rule exists - There's an FAQ topic here..

There's similar rules for the Tbg Forums, although I think there's 1 or 2 differences? That I still need to include.

Currently that's everything. So again, just keep being an active and friendly member around the site/forums and Scratch On!
That is how long 360 seconds is.

You don't have thousands of projects; only 61.

In the top right corner of a forum section, not topic.

According to MyRedNeptune, New Scratchers "are upgraded manually if they are nice and cute and don't flame too much." (http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic … 25#p420925) In other words, there's no set time, and it can vary greatly depending on how often you post/how you behave. Just stay active!

I am a Scratcher on normal forums and a New TBGer on the TBG forums, so I know the differences. Here they are:
- You can edit and delete posts
Wait, that's all I can think of !
EDIT: 06D, how did you get a signature and a picture in it?!

The signature on my other forum account was added before the rule changed. . I thought they removed New Scratcher's signatures when they updated the rule though, but I guess they didn't..
Also I just updated the first post, thanks.

I should probably make a project or two! I only like playing them. I've become inactive on the forums because of the wait time though. As you can see, I've been registered for a while, but I'm still a New Scratcher and it drives me nuts to wait that long to post.
