I might help however, I would need to you to try and explain the method you plan on using. If it uses the pen (which I assume it will), it will probably be very slow.
I'm thinking just use the stamp method.
How are you planning on doing movement? So distance won't look realistic but that's fine.

What should mobs be like? Will we have a day/night cycle? What about placing blocks? I'm a tad bewildered...
I'm not quite sure yet, still trying to work on starting it. We will def. have placing blocks.

Idea! We could use Isometric projection. It's not technically 3D graphics-wise, but it's 3D gameplay ish and considerably easier to program.
What does it look like.
In other news:
I'm going to start working on it.

Just saying to people: Due to the fact that we're using the stamping method we will NOT be able to: place blocks, remove block, change the terrain/area in any way. I guess in theory animals would work, if we had a sprite using the stamp method turning with the map and sometimes moving a little.

Well our original method (pens) wouldn't have worked either.
How do you suggest doing it?
