Surprise Projects are random projects from the Scratch website. Featured projects are projects that the Scratch Team finds and picks to go on the front page. To get your project featured, it has to be original or really good (something along those lines)

Hi guys. I was wondering... Does a gallery get featured the same way as projects? Thanks
Yeah, the only difference is that they get replaced and changed less often than the featured projects most of the time.

Something else I've learned from talking to the team is that in order to be featured, your project can not have copyrighted material in it (music or images). So make sure your artwork and music are either of your own construction or published with a free-to-use license like the Creative Commons license.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.\
BTW, is it true that you can nominate projects to be featured and, if so, how many times do you need to be nominated for the Scratch Team to consider your project for featuring?
