Old Video Games

So I made a list of some old video games I want to get, and it's really long, so could you help me shorten it, or give me more suggestions?

-Earthbound
-Pokemon Fire red
-Chrono Trigger
-Fire Emblem (maybe not)
-Legend of Zelda
-Metroid
-Punch-Out
-Pitfall (What system is that even for?)
-Goldeneye (Probably wont get an N64 just for that)
-Super Mario RPG
-Star Fox
-Donkey Kong Country
-I refuse to buy any Mega-man games

Also, which Super Mario game do you recommend?

Okay, I'm definitely not getting fire emblem.
Also, why would I get pokemon red instead of fire red?

Re: Old Video Games

I've played Fire Red, and it's great. It's a remake of Red, so I guess veggieman was saying you should play the original. For Zelda, you should definitely play Ocarina of Time. I also Highly recommend Goldeneye and Star Fox 64. (Get an emulator if you don't want to buy an N64 console.)

I, at least, found Red to be a better experience

I've played Ocarina of Time already and my friend has goldeneye.

And I have already decided that I'm going to get Fire Red and Earthbound, so don't try to push me out of that.

I would recommend LeafGreen instead then.

No, I used to have fire red, so I'm getting fire red.

Re: Old Video Games

Doom is a good one. Either get a source port or get DOSBox to emulate.

I suggest any game in the Myst series.

Re: Old Video Games

I have Donkey Kong Country from the Wii Shop Channel. Probably going to get the second and third one, too, when I have more points.

Anyway, I recommend SMB3. It's kind of like a 16-bit-esque game on an NES console.

EDIT: 700th post, FTW.  big_smile

Re: Old Video Games

Earthbound.
You know that kid from it who has the glasses and uses bottle rockets?

But seriously, Earthbound is a masterpiece. If you wanna go even further, it is a sequel, the game before was called "Earthbound Zero" which was the unreleased english version or "Mother".

I was going to get that, but it's illegal and it doesn't look that fun.

AHAHAHAH FireRed is not old.

Try original Red, Blue, or Yellow if you want "old."

It came out in 2004, that's not old, but most video games before that aren't fun.

Well, what do we have here?

Lots of games before 2004 were good, unless you're some rabid COD fan.

Oh god no, but they are generally better.

Re: Old Video Games

Why won't you buy any MegaMan games?

MegaMan Battle Network 3: White was probably one of my favorite GBA games of all time (Fine, it's a top-down RPG, but it's still great).

Also, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is excellent, although if you own a Game Boy Advance you've probably played it.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Re: Old Video Games

The original Pokemon Red and B -

Actually, NO.

If you beat those two, you are officially a Pokemon Killer.

But RBY were excellent games, aside from that. (You kill your rival's Raticate, I believe.)

Re: Old Video Games

Chrono Trigger - If you can find an SNES copy of it, good for you (I did emulate this...on my iPod). Or just get lazy like me and buy the DS version. Both are outstanding and extremely fun.

Metroid - The only ones I can find now are Zero Mission and Fusion (for an very high $30), but nothing before. I suggest WiiShop for any before then.

FireRed - Gamestop. Expect to pay over $30, as games like these aren't cheap.

Good luck with the rest, but try looking for a PrePlayed in your community. They sell games as far back as NES (and earlier, but it has been a while since I have been to one), so you never know what you may find.

Ya. On a related note, played Burnout 2 just now. Just as fun as some of the newer ones.

Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, Closer To God, The Downward Spiral, Further Down The Spiral, The Perfect Drug, The Fragile, And All That Could Have Been, With Teeth, Year Zero, Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D, Ghosts I-IV, The Slip, Pretty Hate Machine 2010
