Blood and food intake don't really affect each other too much. It's oxygen that's being transported in the blood.
Well..... actually..... it's not appropriate for Scratch.
Let's just say I have a certain blood problem with a certain kind of energy source.

All we get here, in England, is a wasp and people start freaking out like mad. And the don't even sting/bite unless you really, really get on they're nerves.
Oh, and we have flies that bite. Midges. Tiny things that do nothing more than just cheese you off. They don't even hurt, they just tickle after a while.
The amazing wildlife of England. Midges.

Mosquitoes? Pah, I had loads of bites of those once. So? They're minor. Sure, they make you itchy, but that's okay. It feels nice to itch once and a while, just don't itch too much.
And really, mosquitoes, a problem? Pah! NAWT A PROBLEM
You have lots of blood to spare, seeing as your heart beats about every 0.0005 seconds.
Really. Side affects: Itching.
That a problem?

I'm not sure how the frequency of your heartbeats relates to the amount of blood you have, and I'm pretty sure nobody's heart beats 5,000 times a second.

Actually, they can carry diseases. Pah, yourself XD
And your heart beat doesn't MAKE blood, it carries blood around the body. Blood regenerates every 48 hours.
And it doesn't beat that fast either.
