Scratch doesn't recognize some MP3 file formats

Today I was trying to make one of my "Rare and Historic Recordings" series of projects, but when I imported the recording (which was in an MP3 file format), it showed an error message that looked like this:

Window title: !
Window text: Unrecognized audio file format


but when I open a different MP3 format, it works! What is wrong with my computer/my copy of Scratch? Please help!

Scratch's support for mp3's is shaky, at best. You're best off with wav's.  hmm

Or you could try using iTunes to convert it to another format of MP3...

I'm not sure how to fix this, can you use iTunes to convert it?

RANDOM THOUGHT: If the tomato is a fruit, doesn't that make ketchup a smoothie?
