When you make a new project with scratch, then right click on the regular scratch cat and click delete, quickly press draw a new sprite (paint brush button) before the scratch cat disappears at the bottom where you can see the sprites, and draw any sprite. Press OK, and then the sprite will still be on the screen, but it will not be on the bottom. You can still select and move the sprite (by clicking on it). This glitch happened to me many times, and I'm pretty sure it happened to some users too.

Wow. I tried it and it worked. How did you figure this out?

I don't think that this is actually a glitch. What is happening is when you click draw a new sprite it creates a sprite with the default cat costume until you are finished drawing the new sprite. Hope this helps.

Its never happened to me before... I know this might sound stupid, but try using the <show> block.

It has happened to me too, but simply saving and reopening fixed it for me
Here's a thought: could you use this to make the best 0-sprite, 0-script project ever?
