How to keep a Linux noob busy

Type this at their prompt when they're away:

Code:

PS1="C:\\>" ; export PS1
clear

Log out of the shell and log back in to get the original prompt back.

They'll think that they're in Windows or MS-DOS XD

IF YOU KNOW THE USER'S PASSWORD AND X11 IS RUNNING, KEEP PRESSING CTRL+ALT+F1-F6 UNTIL YOU GET TO A LOGIN PROMPT. LOGIN AND THEN RUN THE COMMANDS.

Re: How to keep a Linux noob busy

Wouldn't anyone familiar enough with Linux to use it as their OS would be able to tell between the terminal and a DOS window?

If they still use MS-DOS, they either they know enough so that they really should be able to tell the difference, or they haven't gotten a new computer since the beginning of time.  tongue

...the title says "noob" in it. Don't you think that the noob can't tell the difference? Anyways, pretend that the noob has MS-DOS and Linux in dual-boot; Linux is running. The noob would be so dumb that he would think it's MS-DOS, not Linux!

Get it?

Also, Wikipedia says that a US Navy food service management uses MS-DOS. Bingo.

N00bs aren't dumb.  They are simply inexperienced.

And are you calling all people who use linux n00bs, or saying that n00bs of linux will be tricked?

Since when? I though that was my job around here. As for that command, I don't quite understand what it does. Could I get a screenshot?

Odd... Are you installing from Windows, or booting Linux from the CD and installing that way?

Re: How to keep a Linux noob busy

I've got Ms-DOS on floppy disk, too bad my computer doesn't have a floppy disk drive. Really should get round to installing one.
