Re: open with executable jar?`

Do you have WinRAR? That can open executable .jar files.

It really helped me when I made my Minecraft texture pack.

Remove the file association. If you're in Windows 7, you can change it under
Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs > Set Associations.

Find the program java.exe. On 32-bit systems, it's C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.x_xx\bin\java.exe. On 64-bit systems, it's in "Program Files (x86)" instead of "Program Files".

Yawn.

Re: open with executable jar?`

Do you need to extract/input files from it? In that case WinRAR, WinZip or 7-Zip would be good. If you want to run it I run java -jar minecraft.jar in the same folder as Minecraft.

Re: open with executable jar?`

I would definitely use WinRAR, because all a .jar file is is a type of Java archive.

Back. For now. Maybe.
