I'm also in China. For me, it takes about 6 seconds to load the home page.

Probably your web browser thats slow. Firefox 4 and Chrome are pretty fast, it might make it faster.

Well, that's true when I have the cache cleared. With the page cached, it loads the page in less than 3 seconds.

I'm in Macau, one of the two special administrative region of China.

And I'm using Google Chrome.

Ordinarily I'd say it's your internet connection, but the fact that you're in China does explain a lot of things. I don't really know what can be done about this though... 

i use google chrome too. the problem that really makes me lose it is that loading a project that is bigger then 10MB....with a download speed of 10KB/s...

I'm sorry if your internet is slow or you are a little impatient.

Just wait a while.

At least it doesn't take you a minute to load the page.

I'm over in Canada, so it's fine, But I distinctly remember in Shanghai at my cousin's house, and browsing the scratch site.

The speeds were about the same. 

In England with a not too fast internet connection, it loads in 0.5-1 secs.

Considering you're so far away, a ping of 46ms is pretty good. Still, it's inevitable that you're going to have some slowdown as a result.

There was once a server in Europe, but they took it down. 

I'm getting it fine in Israel.
