Ok, i have noticed that a lot people on Scratch have trouble getting music into Scratch, So i thought i would take it upon myself to explain a good way of getting music into Scratch. This way costs nothing, needs no Microphone or Headphones.
Ok, Step 1: First you need the open source audio program Audacity. Here's the Website:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Go there and Download the latest stable version of Audacity (Do not get a Beta version). Once Downloaded, Install it.
Step 2: Ok, So open up Audacity, you should get a blank screen with tool-bars up the top. This will consist of a play, Record, stop E.T.C buttons. Now on the far right should be a drop down box with either Microphone or Stereo Mix on it.
Make sure it says Stereo mix. Then, directly next to it should be a microphone symbol, Set this to 0.5, as this is optimum recording sound.
Step 3: Go to a music streaming website like, Musicjesus.com or Playlist.com find the song you want, but don't press play yet, go back to Audacity and click the record button. Then go over to the music site and play the track.
Step 4: Once the track is finished, press the stop button. Play it back to check it, then go to File and Export as WAV, it may come up with a warning about having to squash it down into a single channel track (MONO) just click OK and save the WAV in a place you can remember.
Step 5: Open scratch up and go to sounds, Import the sound from the saved location and Ta-Da! You have music for your project!
Please note: Headphones do mean that the music will not have to blare out of your speakers and will have the same End Result
Have Fun

It's a polish site. Are you polish?

no it should be a sourceforge site, let me check.
Edit: No, you can change the language setting at the bottom, for some reason you must be set on polish.

I just pulled down the latest stable version of the program and for some reason I don't have any Line option available as an input device. The drop-down on the right has no selections at all. Any idea what is going on?

I convert using iTunes and then just import it. Or I find it on scratch in another project.

To record using the "What U Hear" setting, you need a sound card that supports it. Most integrated sound cards do not.

Thanks for sharing. Audacity is a pretty great program. Another place you can find and record free sound effects/music loops is Sound Junction: http://www.soundjunction.org/default.aspa

of course you can always just take an audio cable and plug one end into your headphone jack and the other in the microphone jack.
