I don't think they encourage it

Yeah, but that's the ST. Remember, most people on Scratch are kids and it would be unwise to put a photo of yourself online if it was available to anyone.

Thats actually quite ridiculous. Because if you walk down the street an image of yourself is available to people you don't know. Therefore posting a pic of yourself online is as dangerous as walking down the street.
Do you discourage walking down streets? Didn't think so.

It;s not the best idea. If you REALLY want to, blur it or wear sunglasses.

Lol, I dislike walking down streets when unknown people can see me. xD
I believe the Scratch Team discourages it, but you are free to post a picture of yourself, just check with your parents first.
