George Orwell. Wrote the Bbok "1984." I've read one chapter and I'm stunned by it. It's excellent.
C.S. Lewis- Chronicles of Narnia- good even if you're not Christian.
And who could forget J.R.R. Tolkien. (Lord of the Rings)
Hm...I'll keep thinking.
Oh yeah- Jane Eyre. I didn't really like it, but a lot of girls in my class did and it's considered a classic.
Read everything except for 1984. If you haven't read anything by Brian Jaques you should.

IF you liked Orwell, try "Animal Farm". Great book about the political situation in russia during the Lenin-Stalin era. And it is not boring!

I was planning on reading that one. I've heard it's quite good, plus my teacher offered it up for extra-credit (not sure if it still is though).

I made a "Coat of Arms" for extra credit in my World History class.
It's based on Edgar Allen Poe's short stories; It is divided into 4 different quadrants, each one depicting a different story. I drew a black cat for, well, The Black Cat, a tied man with a pendulum swinging above him for The Pit and the Pendulum, two men representing Montressor and Fortunato conversing for The Cask of Amontillado and a clever close-up eye that is grey and crimson with a light heart reflection in the pupil, to show paranoia and pandemonium, for The Tell-Tale Heart.
The crest is supported by two ravens on either side and the background is my imagination of The House of Usher.
Maybe I'll scan it or something...

Yeah but i showed you the dodgy pages :3 there are many of them, some worse than others, so if you're interested in buying this, just be notified, there are some.... innapropriate parts in the book. But the parts help flow the story, they're not put there aimlessley

Ah, so it's all in good taste, then
Sometimes, cusses make a book more realistic.
That's where River Boy failed!

River Boy was just a failure, not deep enough and stretched out too many pages, and then our teacher asked us to *dig deeper* and all her mystical voodoo
And it's not just cusses in Let The Right One In , it's more... Adult things, and cusses, and illegal stuff happening, and bullying XD Ahh what a wondeful book :3 There's 2 movies about it aswell, "Let The Right One In (Swedish) in 2008", and "Let Me In (American) 2011"

Yeah, this ^^
Basically, River Boy, and why not to read it...
1. Lame story plot
2. Over 100 pages, when the plot can be explained in 3 sentences
3. Too cliche - you know Grandpa's gonna die
4. When a weird midlife-crisis ridden teacher is telling you to 'unpick the story', you get very bored very quickly. Especially when such a BASIC book is stttrrrrreeeeeeeettccheeeeeedddddddd out over a YEAR!
5. I read the last page first. PREDICTABLE!
Yay for classics

I had a lot of free time the past two weeks (Being banned and being on Spring break) so I ended up reading "The Old Man And the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway, "1984" and "Animal Farm" by George Orwell, and "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" by Brian Selznick.
That last one I would really recommend if you're an imaginative person
