Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

I would like to become a curator to help scratchers that have great projects and don't get to be on the front page I like games mostly(some animations)in games I look for the harder scriprint to do or if there just awesome I like  RPGs,simulations, platformers,,and anything you can interact with. For helping the community I go on the newest project page and tell them how to fix some of the glitches that are in there project and sometimes press love it to encourage them to keep scratching

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

i would love to be a curator and i just can't stand the really good projects that nobody sees. like this one http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/markus031098/1685748 is great project and is one of my favorites projects but nobody has seen it and they worked realy hard on it with amazing features and mind-boggeling levels that can blow your mind.

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

If I were curator I would put stunning quality amazing projects that do things that seem impossible or are just downright fun! Below are a few examples
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/integrated/1713858 in this awesome, fun game you must avoid spikes and other "treacherous" terrain, it combines great graphics, with awesome gameplay with a result of it being fun and addictive!
Another example would be this: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/markus031098/1685748
In this amazing game that looks like the work of a pure master, you must use the space key to "toggle". Toggling makes parts of the platform or pillars invisible, allowing you to pass through them. This game is challenging, but fun and not to hard, graphics and the gameplay fit each other perfectly for an exceptional game!
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/scratchn8/1637296
In this amazing "playground" you move around interactive rooms with places to die, it has great graphics, but would be considered good if these were the only features. What makes it so spectacular, is that it has instant replay! This feature makes it so cool and along with spectacular graphics, this seems like it would be truly impossible, without a lot of work and a lot of effort
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/HarleyK/1700799
This game only uses one sprite and one script, to make one of the smoothest scrollers I've ever seen into an exceptionally fun game! You play as a skateboarder who must jump across gaps and avoid obstacles! This game uses gravity for an awesome game experience!
Recently, a user that I had previously mentioned I'd have like to curate got featured, this shows that I would make good choices to curate amazing projects that even the scratch team thinks are amazing!

A-PAD: A virtual ipad, where individual  games are combined to make a software where multiple games are played on one project, all of the application on the A-PAD are as high quality as of individual projects themselves! http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/arajan/1901812

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

Here is another attempt to become a curator. So here it goes:

I would like to become a curator because:

1. I would pick projects of all types, music, platformer, animations, art, simulations, and all other general games.

2. I know A LOT of Unknown project creators (just look at my friends list) and I see several new projects each day.

3. I would search through the 'Show and Tell' Article on the Scratch Forums. I would also make a project called 'propose your best projects here' so scratchers can link their and other people's projects for me to explore.

4. With these 2 resources for projects, I will plan to add a new project every twelve hours, giving the picked project about 36 hours on the front page and give it a healthy boost of 300 views.

5. I have been on the scratch website about a year now and I have a good taste of projects, and will also take into account how many good and deserving projects they have made which shows that they are a good scratcher.

6. I will only pick projects that have less than 200 views, and that have less than 30 love-its. I will however pick projects that are in a series and the predecessor has been curated before. I have seen A LOT of good projects and I knew how I felt when I first published my first OS. (Thanks LS97  big_smile )

7. I will favour and more likely curate projects that run well online (or at least run well online), and make sure that there is no offensive material in them (that's for you, kids), and that they will be exciting to all audiences (not 'Barbie Dress-Up).

8. I will be fair and give each project the same chance (unless it falls into the previous paragraph), regardless who made it. I will not however curate projects where the creator will likely to be mean to his commenters or just not say anything to them.

9. The amount of projects I see that have less than 50 views and are good enough to be curated is just incredible. I know so many scratchers are amazing and deserve to have their projects curated. But, just to show you, here are some of the projects that I would curate:

Filler by LS97 http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/LS97/1316326

Path follower 0.2 by Randalpik http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/randalpik/995736

1S1S1C CubeWorld by Ericthegreat http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Ericthegreat/1253867

3D Ping Pong by BigDolphin http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/BigDolphin/1218652/

Dead Space - I by FlexiStudio http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/FlexiStudio/1195924

Turbo Blast by Prestige http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Prestige/1487109

Scrolling Archery Champion by freejam http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/freejam/1399860

Aeonix OS V 0.6 by Scratch_OSX http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Scratch_OSX/1345883

Ricochet by ilikewaffles http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ilikewaffles/1186024

Asteroids by SeanCanoodle http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/SeanCanoodle/194636

There are some of the projects that I would curate.

10. In case I don't find any worthy projects (I sound like a god  tongue . Sorry), I will ask my friends to help me find some and make sure that my front page curator page keeps on moving. I will also check previous curators favourites page and look at what projects they have favoured after their time as a curator.

11. I will make sure that the account that made the project I curated was active, and answers comments, and isn't mean when replying to comments (like some people are). This also means that the curator will be able to see their project on the front page.

12. I go on the scratch website a lot and so I can see lots of good projects. I know some curators that only pick about 6 projects over their 2 week shift, and that's because they can't go on the scratch website enough. I will be able to go on the scratch website enough so I will be able to pick lots of projects.

13. I will make sure that I have the person’s choice wether they want to be put onto the front page or not. For example, if the project that I select is a beta, and the project owner doesn’t want to have it front paged because the full project is not finished, then I will not post it onto the front page.

14. I will ask which project they would like me to curate. For example, if I see a game that they have created and think it is good but they have a game which is just as good and they want that to be on the front page, then I will put the one they want on there (provided it follows the points and rules above).

15. (I don’t know if you can do this, but…) If the user was posting mean or offensive content on the project itself or in the comments, then I would flag the project and take it off the front page (by removing it from my favorites list). This would also apply if the user was to update the project with blood or other inappropriate things.

16. If the user wants to send me his/her project privately for some reason, then they can send it to me by email, and I will have a look at it.

17. I would try and curate projects that work in their own unique way (such as my Puzzle-Platformer, Omen. I don’t mean to spam, it’s just an example). This means that rather that a tutorial you could have an interactive tutorial.

18. I will try to make sure that the project runs well on the new Flash player and when using the old style JavaScript. This means that whichever media system the player is using, the game will run fine, in case the game does not run smoothly (like JavaScript on Safari 5).

There. 1,000 words on why I think I should be chosen to be a scratch curator.

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

To me, being a curator is a great experience that would allow me to help the site in ways i never have before. I enjoy really good games that have to meet a high mark of quality. I have found quite a few games that never recieved the right amount of attention. For example:

Fanatic
Cool Editor Game (Previously curated, example of my style though)
and
Ink War

@builder-Just post your speech right here like everyone else, or read the first post to find out what I just said.

@optimax-the java viewer (old one) as you said in #18, is most definitely not JavaScript.

They are two different things.

JavaScript is for websites, Java is for programs.

Re: Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage

I would love to be a curator because i've always waanted to help the scratch community in any way possible.
I would pick projects that are unique in a particular way, a project that will interest people. If it is a game, one that is challenging and fun that is really addictive. I will chose projects that have very few views. For me to put the project on the front page(if it is good enough) the views will have to be under 200 if it's been online for over 8 months and 50 if it has been online for about 3 weeks so that the right people get the attention. I will change the projects on the front page about once every 2-3 days.
Please make me a curator. Thanks. :p

I would put up amazing games that can't get the "what the community it viewing or something but i would let people vote for what they think should be front paged the reason i would do this is because not everyone can get the outher front paged stuff.I hope you will let me be a Curater.
