Hi Scratch Team!
By the way, I'm not a new scratcher. I have a full page of projects, have been on for over a year, and have loads of galleries + I have over 900 comments. You may want to change how you do that.
But that's not the point. I have a new thing called "Dino Points" (a form of currency) that all users of my RPGs (galleries) recieve for certain things. I am trying to tell them all of their points, but even if I change their names for each one and their dino points, it still says "Sorry, you have posted a similar message recently". It would be appreciated for you to take that off.

yeah. they should have it part of "flag as inappropriate" or add a "flag as spam" to the comments.

Yeah, he's right. He's not new. But about the "Sorry, you have posted a similar message recently", that is VERY annoying. It would be much appreciated to have it removed.

What is that supposed to mean? Not to be mean, but they should just plain out delete it. Though flag as spam would be very useful...

I agree with Deathstar3. Flag as spam would be VERY useful, but it doesn't pertain to this topic. I hope you come back on here and say that the "Sorry, you have posted a similar message recently" should be gotten rid of. thanks for your support any how!

But the problem is that the person could have already reached 1000 projects, and there wouldn't be enough people to flag as spam.
Just put a smiley at the end.
"Here's your points! "
"Here's your points! "
Here's your points! "
It should work.

I've already tried something like that. I add each person's name, and it doesn't work. Thanks for the help though. I'll re-try it with that.

I agree. when I am answering people on my rpgs I like being fast. when that pops up i have to think of something else to say. I also have limited computer time and that takes up alot of it.

I put up a project last weekend, and I was doing some heavy commenting: telling my friends about it, responding to first comments, etc. Eventually, it gave me that message. It was to be expected, I guess. But today, over 4 days later, it still gives my that message every time I post a comment with a link to a project! Even if they can't get rid of it, it has serious issues the way it is now.

okay I'm back on and alot has happened. let me see...

It's not enough.
Ah. Thank you. I will once again try that. So add a new word or symbol each time? That might help until its removed.

Very helpful. You are exactly correct. Please consider all these, Scratch Team.
Boltbait and yoshidude56 both commented on flag as spam. Although that is useful, ITS NOT WHAT THIS FORUM'S ABOUT! lol, sorry about it, but im kinda worn out 2day...
Scimonster, that tutorial is very helpful. However, it would be best to simply have it removed.

Hello Scratch team,
i say this on behalf of all my friends on scratch, that you take off the "Sorry, you have posted a similar message recently".i can't get all the latest news from my friends and so can't my friend's friend's.
Yours truly,
fellow scratcher
p.s.:
i don't care much for the message system

To get rid of this message, first post it a first time "You gained 5 points"
The next time you write this, put two spaces between each word. "You gained 5 points." It will turn out normal once you click 'reply'
Then, the third time, put 3 spaces. Also, this will not work with only one word.
I also hate how it says I am a "new scratcher," just like you!

I do agree with this, as sometimes repeated posts are required to broadcast a message, thanks to the lack of a "shout" option.

Hmm, usually similar word strings posted in a row (for example, saying "thanks" multiple times over) or posting links usually triggers the message... however, in your case, the message still comes up despite the number of posts and username keeps changing; I find that odd since this scenario isn't typical of the "similar message" error. Could you post some of the comments you were trying to make? Maybe it might be something else in the posts that's triggering the message.

If you keep on having to say thanks, you can change it a little, thats how I do it anyways. Here are some examples. Thanks!, thanx, thank you, etc. Also, if you add different emoticons to it each time, it counts as a completely different message. The reason they do this in the first place is to control the amount of spam on the Scratch website, I think.

That's probably it.

Okay, I'm back on. I will quote a few people here, but there's been too many posts to do all of them. I'll just select some at the bottom. Thanks for the support everyone!

Very true. Spamming is a problem, but not being able to post links also is.
@ Cheddargirl: You are right it is strange; I think the link has to do with it. I think that by posting the same link, it thinks its the same message. You wanted an example of it. Here's the un-altered thing in a word document that i copy then paste and then add the points and user:
THIS IS AN AUTOMATED MESSAGE: Greetings, _ I am here to inform you that I have started a point system known as “Dino Points”. You can earn them by performing certain tasks and they award you points. You currently have _ Dino Points. Please go to this gallery for more info: http://scratch.mit.edu/galleries/view/119273
Where the _s are is were i put the username and points. I then recieve the "Sorry, you have posted a similar message recently" thing, and i tried it today. First time I do it, it says that message. However, I just tried typing in JUST the link but that worked. It makes not sense.
Anyhow, although we all know how to prevent simple ones (with the exception of my problem), it should simply be deleted (if possible). Many people agree with me. Thanks for your support!

Ps. I appreciate becoming a full scale scratcher! Thanks scratch team, if you did something to fix this or i added enough stuff. Now I'm stuck on another problem: how do you create the picture and motto? I clicked on the link under this, and it didn't work. Sorry if I'm making too much work!

I'm still pretty sure this feature is really only useful for controling spam.

How about making it go away once you get scratcher status?

Ah, you're tying to post a large amount of similar text and a link over and over again, so even if the messages are not exactly the same, the similarity causes the error message to be triggered. If you make a small message about the points without the link, you might encounter the problem less.
Even if it error message is annoying (I get it all the time when trying to thank people), it probably not going to be removed anytime soon because it's one of the only few measures that help prevent excessive spam (chain mails, SEO link spam, etc.).
However, there has been many calls to have the filter improved (I see some suggestions for it in this thread already). Feel free to suggest ways for the filter to be improved.
Regarding the question about a "picture and a motto"; if you mean by a signature, here's a thread that might help.
