Re: Computer Specs

Not that much, if you put it on tiny without better lighting. It's more your graphics card. 512 mb of RAM should be fine.

Re: Computer Specs

I'd say Minecraft uses the processor more than the graphics card, actually.

Re: Computer Specs

I currently have an okish laptop, but i am building a much better mid-range gaming comp.

i3-2100 @ 3.1 GHz CPU (yes, only dual core, but it beats most AMDs, and i plan to upgrade to an i5-2500K which beats all AMDs)

Radeon HD 6850

4Gb DDR3 RAM @ 1600Mhz

750w psu (can't remember details)

P67 16x 8 PCI express Motherboard

1TB samsung F3 spinpoint HDD

Antec 300 illusion case

I think thats it. I have my list of stuff on my laptop and i am posting on my iPod, so i might have forgotten somthing.

GRAphics:  899MB --> 64MB Dedicated (Lol) @ 425MHz

Re: Computer Specs

I don't know what are the system requirements for SSP (Survival Single Player) Minecraft, but I know that a SMP (Survival Multiplayer) server need at least 100MB of RAM per user who is online. Try pressing F3 while in the game (SSP or SMP). If the graph that shows up is bigger than a 1/3 of the screen, you probably need a better computer.

@MasterOfDeception That is an decent laptop, but an i3 does not beat "most AMDs". An i3 is a "entry-level" CPU that really isn't that powerful. In fact, Intel and AMD are about neck-and-neck in processor performance right now.

@what-the Nice! My computer was made in late 2008, and gets a 4.8 (with about 15 Google Chrome tabs open  tongue )

@rdococ On your computer, search "System", and click the result named that. You will get more specs on your computer there.  wink

Re: Computer Specs

Here is mine everyone, as fire219 requested:

Dell OptiPlex GX620 (2006 model)
----------------------------------------------
Intel Pentium D (for Dual Core man!) 2.8 GHz
3GB DDR2 RAM
250GB Seagate ST3240620 (SATA-2) HDD
700W WinPower PSU
Pioneer DVD/CD burner
ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 5670
Creative Live! 24-bit External with 5.1 full surround
Monitor: BenQ GH220HD 22 inch with FULL HD, if you don't know already with
1920 x 1080 naitive resolution
It sound like a diesel engine upon power up, because the PSU is slightly bodged in and vibrates a lot. (A few kicks to the case sorts this out)
OS: Windows 7 Professional, for the Professional at work  wink

My computer, a late-2008 HP Pavilion dv7 "desktop replacement" laptop:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4 Ghz (I might check to see if it is easy to overclock)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT
RAM: 4GB (I think it is DDR3, but it might only be DDR2)
HDD: Fujitsu MHZ2320BH-G2 320GB 5400 RPM

Other stuff:

Display: 17.1" display built into laptop
Mouse: Logitech M505 Wireless Laser Mouse ($25-$35)
Headphones: Sony Piiq Triiq headphones ($30)

It sounds like a Boeing 747 at takeoff.  lol

Sounds like a MacBook.

Oh. That's right; Apple used Nvidia graphics until just recently, didn't they?
