How do you add your own sprites on Scratch?

Click the folder icon by the other icons where you add sprites.
Or you can choose a random sprite and drag the image on to it's costumes.

You can also click the paint brush icon under the stage to open a drawing tool to draw your own sprite. Then press OK and you've made it.

Oh, I guess I said that wrong. How do you add a sprite, that is not already on the program. I put a sprite into Paint, and did that, but I got a white background with it.

Scratch comes with a paint editor that can handle transparency. To edit an image in Scratch, you can go to an existing sprite's "Costumes" section, and click "Edit" on one of its costumes, or you can click the paint brush icon under the stage to paint your own sprite. Transparency is the checkerboard you see in the paint editor.
Make sure you are editing a sprite's costume and not the background -- if you put transparency in the background, it will turn to white. This is because there is nothing below the background.

Thank you I figure it out.
