5. Avatar (2009) Awesome visuals, strange story line. Original idea, but very very weird. Other than that, good.
HAHAHAHAHAHA NO.
I agree that Avatar was a good movie, but I do agree that most of the plot was unoriginal.
Anyways, here are my next 5 fave sci-fi flicks.
10. Tron Legacy (2010); Okay, don't hate on me for this, but this movie was actually more than I expected it to be. The storyline was very vaguely explained, but I kind of got it because I read the comic book prequel (Tron Betrayal) and watched the original Tron before watching this. The visuals are spectacular and the score is amazing (The Academy sucks for not nominating Daft Punk for Best Original Score).
9. Jurassic Park (1993); I watched this movie a couple of years ago and loved it. The dinosaurs were awesome and didn't look fake. I like the suspenseful scenes that run throughout (i.e. velociraptors in the kitchen).
8. Avatar (2009); I am not kidding. This movie is epic and awesome. The storyline was unoriginal, I know. The visuals were really cool though. The lush jungle environment and strange alien wildlife really mesmerized me.
7. Back to the Future (1985); A cult classic. If you haven't seen it, you're not a sci-fi fan.
6. Inception (2010); This movie is the most confusing movie I've ever seen. I got the concept all right, but some of just was some of those "What the heck was that?" moments.
AH! You forgot independance day again!

Star Wars Rankings:
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. New Hope
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. Phantom Menace
6. Attack Of The Clones
Now for reasons:
Empire is number 1 cause (call me cruel) I always liked the scene where Han is frozen, and who can forget "Luke, I am your father!"
Then I like the old series just because those are the truly good ones.
Now Revenge is at the top of my new movie list because it's more serious with some action and not too much lovey-dove thrown in.
Phantom Menace comes just before last because all the character's are innocent, and it's nice to see Anakin like that,
At very last, is Clones because it's a bunch of lovey-dovey slobber with about 1 good fighting scene (but that scene pwns, go geonosian arena). I don't want to see the most cruel villain in history roll down hills and bask in the sun with some girl 5 years older than him.

It doesn't matter if it's PG-13. I'm allowed to watched a whole lot of those.
